So you think Mel is going to win? God help Colton then! Did you see his letter in the Sun today? You want corruption, then you'll get it with Mel ... hiring in Colton will become a family affair I'm certain ... just look at what he's done to the school districts where he works and is elected. How's that high school coming along that Mel and his cronies have spent millions on and (poof) no school. That entire school board needs to be removed for incompetence ... starting with Mel and his good buddy Zamora should be next.
My gosh, what rock do you live under? There wasn't enough money to build the high school before Albiso got on the Board. The dispute over the high school is the location because citizens of Grand Terrace want it there and there is no land for it (unless you would want your kids attending school near a power plant.)

He's a phony, just like Albiso. Albiso has an agenda as well, and it isn't improving government in Colton!
Tori is a phony, I already figured out from another forum that this person isn't even from Colton. Just someone with a personal vendetta against Albiso.

Hussie,

The $3,500 per month that Baca is paying for fundraising is to his children who "work" for his campaign ... if you go back in the records, you'll see his daughter (Natalie -- from Highland) and son Jeremy work for him (hence NJB -- from Highland). Then there's Joe Baca Jr. who is Executive Director and CEO of the Joe Baca Foundation -- wonder how much he earns in that role???

As for D. Martinez -- if there wasn't enough $$ to build the high school in Grand Terrace, then where the heck is Albiso's leadership (along with Zamora) to change the site?? Or are they just your typical pandering politicians who aren't brave enough to make the tough decision.

If you bothered to read the editorial that Mel A. wrote, he talked about how the city is passing debt on to our grandchildren. Wrong Einstein! You're the only one passing on debt for our grandchildren when you pass a school bond and don't deliver on a single new school site that was promised!! Wake up Colton and see what this is all about -- it's about Joe Baca and his political machine (Zamora, et al ...) taking control of a city council so son Jeremy can either a) find a job with the electric company or b) get elected.

Just when did I say I was from Colton? I simply know Albiso; that gives me a right to post my opinion, and my experience with him.

I'm still waiting on a reply to how Colton First obtained my name and adress? Since Mr. Grossich is too busy to answer my questions (namely,if the Mayor indicated she was willing to continue talks, why jump to something as drastic and costly ($22,000) as a recall-are you going to seel your pizza place to fund it ,or do the taxpayers have to pony-up?),but has the time to do an "extensive search" for me,I obviously have no part in his world or that of Colton First(so much of there talk of being for the citizens-like communists they only seem to acknowlege those who share there own beliefs).Yet obviously they rate me high enough to send me there booklet.Check your mailing list,Gary, not only do I exist, I also live in Colton !

I also live in Colton. I have lived here for a very long time. I have no respect for anyone who claims to be part of, or who entertains the ideas the Citizens for Colton's First group. These people consistantly prove to be malcontents who love attention, and reek of ignorance. The rediculous booklet I got from them made me sad that I have to share my beutifull city with such ignorant people. Now with Serrano at La Via acting up again I have realized that the foolishness will never end. It made me mad when I read about how many bounced checks she has written the city and how many times they have given her brakes. I bet the nice couple who owns P&G burgers across from the Post Office DOn't write bad checks and don't complain about being harrassed.

I bet bringing in an outside mediator would prove less costly than the recall. And before Grossich starts acussing the mediator of being bought off ,here's the plan:7 mediators are chosen with there names each written on a piece of paper and droped in a fishbowl.A rep from both Colton First and The Mayor each pull a name out,in tuen. The last name remaining (remember, there are 7) is the mediator to be brought in.That's how unions and company's choose arbitrators. Or better yet, spend the 20 grand on an election to see if the voters want a recall.
I think there needs to be an amendment to the city bylaws -3,000 signatures out of a town of 50,000 people is a very small percentage. By the way,CVolton First did not by any chance obtain these signatures standing outside Food 4 Less and saying the petition was to stop big buisiness from taking away peoples houses, did they?

They used all kinds of shady tactics including offering money for signatures. I can't remember the dollar amount but that is just ridiculous.

David, your idea is good, but I would not allow anyone from "Colton's first" to be part of the process. They already think they are important for some reason, and involving them in this process would just make their heads bigger.

If any of "Colton's first" where more than unsuccessful businessmen/woman, they would probably be content with our Mayor. Instead, they are a bunch of unsuccessful business owners, malcontents, ex and current parolees, and in general, uneducated losers who need someone to blame for their lack of success.

Shame on all of you, each and every one ! This is obviously NOT a political article ! I do not attend this mans church,in fact I've never heard of him before reading this. While my personal religious beliefs are exactly that-my personal beliefs, and of no consequence here.I do not care if a man is a Catholic Priest,a Muslim Cleric,a Baptist Minister,a Rabbi,Budhist Monk, etc. To turn a thread that simply praises a man of God's work in our community into a partisan dialog is an un-American lack of respect for the Constitution rights of Freedom of Religous Beliefs. I was not going to comment on the letter at all until I saw (and was disgusted by) what others had commented on.
As for the letter,Bobis sounds like a good man.End of comment. In light of the major Earthquake in China this week,I say screw the super block, screw the sport complex and other development projects ,put them on hold.Use the availible funding(including those earmarked for the recall-just cancel it) and instead create commitees to go around to each and every family and instruct them in dissastor prepardness. Scientist say the Big One for So-Cal is emminant ;Let's make Colton a model community equiped to survive a major dissastor, instead of one that childlishly squables amongst themselves, disrespects the creator and ultimatly perishes in reward for it's actions/inactions.
I will pray for each of you.

I think you're a little off on your facts. ACTUALLY LIVING IN COLTON, I know for a fact that the bond was passed way before Albiso was voted into office. It is also the people (citizens of Colton) who vote for and can pass a bond, not the school board. You can campaign for it and lobby it all you want to, but it is ultimately the people who have to decide.

And I never brought up the Baca family so I am not really interested in your opinion on them because it has nothing to do with Colton

I have no respect for a politician like Kelly Chastain who at one time was a staunch political ally of a criminal like Ramon Hernandez and kept proclaiming his innocents and then a few years later after he was convicted, claims, to have taken credit cards away to "prevent corruption".

Answer my question,Mr. Grossich. How did Colton First get my name and adress ?It's apparently not through the Registrar of voters, because both of my parents would have recieved Colton First literature. They did not. I have never knowingly signed any recall petition so if my name appears on one, this petition was built on false pretense!(and remove my name from it -both the Colton First mailing list and or petition). I am one citizen,at least , whom Colton First does NOT represent.

Watching the City Council meeting last night definatley cleared up a lot of things.First,Mel "Aztlan" Albiso finally makes an appearance at City Hall ,but,as I have suspected all along,is such an arrogant SOB that he leaves after making (false) statements about Colton being broke, with no respect whatsoever to other citizens comments.DeLaRosa's face lights up like a kid in a candy store after finding out the city has millions in it's coffers, and mysteriously leaves early (he showed up late). What a lame representative this guy is !Every week he's late and yesterday he didn't even stay long enough to vote on behalf of his constituents! Wake up District 2-you are being robbed blind by paying this guy to do what? And do you know he owns and rents several properties off Mill st in his district? Is not that a conflict of interest (I'm sure they have campaign signs in there yard-or face eviction!). Someone else points out "where was Colton First during Grimbsy,Saunders,Beltran, etc etc...??"Then they exhibit the ignorance of attacking the Firefighters overtime while these guys where courageously fighting the widlfires (and even give the wrong number of firefighters on the force).Colton should annex Fiesta Village, which I always considered a part of Grand Terrace anyway. Then guess what? No more free pizza,no more free beer=no more Colton First

For those here who do not know who Grant School was named after read this;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ulysses_S._Grant

For Mel Albiso to even entertain the thought of renaming a school which is named after our 18th president,a Civil War hero, after his aunt, whose accomplishments do not even compare ,shows Mel Albiso is not only the walking embodiment of "self-interest"but also very ignorant of history and should be recalled from the school board (a job for Colton First?)

Stupid Americans! You may have invented democracy but you abuse it at every chance! It looks like these blokes who keep crying about their city guv'ner wasting money have no qualms about wasting it themselves on special elections. That's why 3/4 of the world view you yanks as savages. I did not read one single intelligent post by anyone in this whole lot. Good thing America is going to drive itself into bankruptcy in Iraq.Armpit of the world, the lot of you !
