The mayor is anti Walmart. Does he really think that an open air,walk-around mall in Fontana is a good idea. I can see people trying to shop up there with 60-70 mph winds or 116 degrees. A Walmart super center up there would be great. I'm tired of spending my grocery money outside of Fontana.

I agree! I have lived in Fontana 25 years and open mall would not be for me. I would shop at a Walmart supercenter.

I'M WITH THE MAYOR I'LL RATHER SEE A NICE BIG ANCHOR WITH SOME JUNIOR ANCHORS AND A FEW SMALL SHOPS WITH A FOOD COURT AND SIT DOWN RESTAURANTS RATHER THAN A BIG WAL MART. OH YEAH BY THE WAY THE TEMPERATURE DOES VARY TOO IN CALIFORNIA SO IF THE WEATHER IS LIKE OVER 100 YOU'LL COMPLAIN RIGHT IF THE WEATHER IS IN THE LOW 60'S DURING THE DAY YOU'LL COMPLAIN. WHAT THIS MEANS PEOPLE WILL BE SHOPPING NO MATTER WHAT THE TEMPS ARE.

Fontana is so low class - Wal-mart would be the only choice. I really will be surprised to see what shops go there.

The mayor is talking about an "open-air" mall where you would walk from shop to shop. This is not an enclosed mall. In an open air mall the temperature and winds do have an effect on shopping. There are literally THOUSANDS of homes in Fontana in foreclosure. Who can afford to shop an upscale outdoor mall. Have you ever been to Fontana???

The mayor is dreaming-he wants it to be like Victoria Gardens in Rancho-who is he kidding. Maybe a tortillria and a few taco shops with a swap meet-that's what I see in Fontiauna. That place really is a dump. Even the mayor lives at the city's edge.Who is he kidding?

While I agree with your impression of Fontijuana, remember there are still a few of us OTM's (other than Mexicans) here...
The Mayor is nothing but a $$$ whore, takes it when he can...
The real problem with Fontana is that everything south of Baseline is continuously ignored...Look at the area surrounding the Speedway...I live in Fontana, but you couldn't pay me to drive through there at night...It's bad enough during the day...
Why isn't anything being done there?...Because the Mayor simply left the area to the ILLEGALS...
I have watched as many prominent families from Fontana have packed up and left due to the invasion...Only they left the state completely, taking their $$$ with them...
They can keep building up the North end, but it will eventually become just as blighted as the rest of the city...It's not the City, it's the people who've been allowed to ruin it...

To all the people from Rancho;

How long do you think it will be before the invaders take over your City?...They're already right at the edge of it, and they keep moving closer...

You should be screaming at your Local Government to become more involved with helping your neighbors, instead of sitting back and allowing them to ignore what's going on in your back yard...

Not everyone in Fontana asked for the City to be handed over to ILLEGALS...But, we aren't bitching at residents of other Cities to fix it either...

Read in the paper that Mayor Nuiami has a problem in Colton where he works full-time as ass't city manager. He and another staff member, in e-mails, referred to the citizens of Colton as "urban idiots" and "monkeys". Gee, I wonder what he calls the citizens of Fontana(he doesn't draw a fulltime paycheck here) and what is he trying to jam down our throats. Maybe he wants the Promande Mall to bear his name-his legacy. I think he has some serious problems.

Colton is quite a mess...If Nuiami can't manage to handle his own city, they're the idiots for hiring him...
His little Promenade will fall prey to his own unsavory residents soon enough...Maybe he should focus on cleaning his own house...

There will be a council meeting on Fri-3/07-at 1000am to further discuss the Promanade Mall that our visionary mayor has decided we need. Many of the things he wants can go there, even with a Wal-mart. We need a Wal-mart in Fontana. Who can afford an upscale mall in Fontana. We all need to show up at he council meeting and give the council our feedback. After his comments about the citizens of Colton, I don't want him deciding anything for me.

Maybe you've never shopped at Victoria Gardens, it's just as windy over there - Rancho was low class too - In my opinion residents in Rancho should support Fontana's wishes to improve itself.

There's much more to Fontana than the proposed site...Clean up the existing ghettos before building anything...People will not drive through a ghetto to shop, nor should they be expected to...

People from Fontana are NOT supposed to drive to the Promenade mall. It's designed as a buffer dividing N. Fontana and "us". If Wal-mart is up there we might drive up there and bother them. The ghetto area is all south of the Promenade so it doesn't need to be cleaned up. N. Fontana people don't come down here so it can stay this way and not upset them. They won't see it. Mark is developing a "let 'em eat cake" attitude and his opinion is the only one that's worthwhile. Anybody who disagrees with him is an "urban idiot" and doesn't deserve what he'll do for us.
Come on Mark-wake up or get out of town.

I'd prefer "get out of town"...Besides, coming from "Yuppie Larvae", being called an "Urban Idiot" is a compliment...At least us "idiots" show some sense...

Hussie,

Interesting to see that your complaints are about how the area around the Speedway is maintained. Unfortunately that's not in our city limits ... it's still county area. We recently annexed a huge part of the county to make improvements and we are. As for your assertion that we only invest in the north, have you been downtown lately? That $65 million library didn't get built in the north. That dinner theater at Center Stage is opening this summer. So try driving around town (and not the county) and see what we are actually doing... you might be surprised.

Whitewashing certain parts of the city doesn't absolve you, Mayor Mark, of your ignorance to the ghetto your city has become...Dead animals left to rot on streets where children play, graffiti everywhere, trash strewn about, shoddy roads, an overwhelming abundance of ILLEGALS, etc...
But yeah, you built one massive eyesore of a library to fix all that right?...How far over budget did it go again?...

You ignored the fact that all your complaints are a result of your area NOT BEING IN FONTANA! So if you want the graffiti removed and the roads improved, support annexation and it will happen. Otherwise, forward your complaints to the county supervisor who represents your area and get it cleaned up. Otherwise folks driving by your area will continue to think we are neglecting Fontana. Also, you need to visit our facilities throughout town and not simply focus on one building ... and have you actually visited the library? A massive eyesore?? Are you kidding me?? Well, if you think that's an eyesore, then there is nothing we will ever do to make you happy...
