The big question is who was there first, the airport or the neighborhood?

Thing is, developers always manage to move in on the cheaper land around airports, then the NIMBYs (Not In My Back Yard) start to whine about the noise.

Towns ALWAYS locate airports away from residences and businesses. And builders ALWAYS manage to move in.

Hundreds of airports around the country are under siege by developers who want that precious real-estate that was considered worthless when the airport was built. In New York, they built Kennedy (originally Idlewild) in a remote swamp out in Queens. When transatlantic prop planes took off low over nearby towns the noise was bad but nobody moved. Then when jets began to replace prop planes. They could gain altitude much more quickly and throttle back to lower the noise, but the NIMBYs started to sue the city.

But it didn't stop anybody from using the airport.

I used to live in South Jersey and we were under a flight path. Where these people live is heavily congested and the home are close together. Good for them. I hope the the FAA gets the message.

i know the people who live there, and to everyone who says the airport was there first, its not what you think. the faa changed the flight plan and now planes that used to take off ove the delaware river are now taking off and landing just about 150 to 200 feet over very residential areas and cannot be tolerated, it lowers the quality of life for residences and especiall annoying when you are talking to someone and all of a sudden you cant hear anything for a good 30 seconds cause it sounds like a war zone, the faa can seriously shove it up their a.s.s.e.s for what its worth
