I am writing this review to prevent another hunter or other person from getting shafted by this con artist like I did.
Brett Scott sent me a contract for a “started” Labrador retriever that was supposed to be ready to hunt by June 2012. I finally received the dog in late July 2012. The dog was supposed to have obedience training, be force fetched, have retrieved live and dead birds, be steady to the gun, completed double marks, have basic hand signals and whistle trained.
What I received was a dog that had some obedience training, was not force fetched, retrieved bumpers when it felt like it, was gun shy, would not pick up live or dead birds, didn’t know what a hand signal or double marks were, did not sit on the whistle and had worms that I had to re-treat because the meds he gave were inadequate.
When I complained to Brett Scott, within the next few days, he promised me another dog that would have all the training he had contracted for and the dog would be ready by mid-August. Then he said it would be ready by mid September and I never heard from him again in spite of repeated voice and e-mails.
This guy is not to be trusted in anything he says or claims that his dogs are trained to a started level. A prominent breeder pulled one of their dogs from him recently so they could get it properly trained.
Because of this unscrupulous trainer I am out the “fun” money I had saved for my retirement and am hunting without a Labrador for the first time in 40 years and without the funds to purchase another. I had hoped to have a hunting dog and companion for the next 10 years. Thanks Brett for ruining my retirement!!! You must be proud of yourself.
I see he has shut down the Kitchie Kahniss Retriever web site so I am sure he will open another up under another name in the future.
DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE LINE OF BS THAT BRETT SCOTT GIVES YOU!!!

Oh my god!! I fell for his crap a few years ago... Sent him $3000.00 (which was 4500.00 in Canadian Dollars!) for a started dog. He told me the dog "died" then promised a new dog. Ever heard from him again. I phoned and phoned and emailed and emailed. He didn't return any of my calls then his phone was shut off. Then the website disappeared. I know another lady that was also screwed by him.... they are out $6000.00.... I found her by complete accident and we started talking about Mr. Scot and what he did to her and I.
We are a young family and when I "purchased" the started dog from Bret it was supposed to be a dog I got for husband so as a young couple I spent our savings to get the dog...
I wish I could have warned you! I don't know where else to post information on him to warn others??? I am MORE then willing to do anything to warn other people and get some justice for his victims.
