What Federal Highway Act "subsidization?"
The HW Act gets money from the federal gas tax. If you drive a car on the highways, your car needs to be fueled by gas. You pay the same gas tax as everyone else, and everyone pays for the roads to be maintained.
However, if you ride a train or bus you get a discounted rate b/c it is subsidized by tax monies paid by people who do not ride the bus or train. And most of that subsidization of mass transit is paid for using the gas taxes we all pay.
I say we try charging people riding transit what the real rate - the rate that it would take to operate and maintain transit systems without any subsidization.
If I choose to ride transit, then I should also choose to pay for it.
If I choose to drive a car, then I should be able to choose my gas taxes go solely for fixing the roads and bridges I drive on.
POW!
You are mistaken. Gas tax does not cover the entire cost of Federal Highway Bill. Face reality that subisidization has existed in road industry since the 1920s.

Okay, I forgot to mention driver license and vehicle registration fees.

I would like to see LANTA do more for the handicapped busing system. Handicapped people are "the forgotten". Personally, in the last 20 years, I have seen my handicapped parent endure absurdly long wait times for the bus that gets them to dialysis. Today it is the July 4th holiday and, YES, "the forgotten" still must go to the dialysis clinic to have their blood cleaned.

Today......LANTA abandons them.

Why?

The handicapped busing aspect of LANTA must be available, EVEN ON THE HOLIDAY, for those with dire needs. I think people on dialysis are in DIRE NEED of getting their treatments.

Before we talk about trolleys, which are a great idea, let's make sure we are taking care of the handicapped who suffer in silence.

PLEASE, let's look out for these people who depend on the able-bodied within LANTA to DO THE RIGHT THING on their behalf. Just walk in their shoes for one week..

Follow-up: Would you believe some poor souls had to rend an ambulette for roughly $150 to get themselves to the dialysis clinic to have their blood cleaned.....WHILE ALL OF US WERE BARBECUING!!1

LANTA, get your butt in gear and make sure the handicapped bus is available when VITAL SERVICES are offered, which might be 7 days a week!

Do it! Please!

Stay away from the 1976 Park that is a historical site that was built in honor of a local man like the late HARRY TREXLER! Also stay away from the parks. Old is by far better than new in all aspects. Just look at America as it is today!

Lanta is nothing more than a few busses with drivers uneducated enough that they can't tell time.
