If this was illegal, it would have been stopped years ago, or people that get dui tickets would have them thrown out of court. If you don't believe people driving drunk are criminals, wait until one hits you or a family member.

Or if someone you love has been drinking and gets behind the wheel of a car and kills himself and his friend. People are ignorant and drive drunk everyday even knowing the cost and just not giving a s**t!

DUI Checkpoints are illegal in 13 states. Michigan was the first to ignore a US Supreme Court Ruling which made it legal.

Michigan Dept. of State Police v. Sitz, 496 U.S. 444 (1990)

It's sad that only 13 states are willing to enforce the Constitution, while the US Supreme Court ignores it.

The checkpoints are being conducted under the state police's Strikeforce II initiative, which aims to conduct a checkpoint at least once a month in every county. The goal is to reduce serious alcohol- and drug-related crashes by taking impaired drivers off the road.

Once a month? What good is it?

I sat in the 222 S. line for a half hour last night. Anyone drunk could easily turn around and take 78 home. The cops did nothing to stop the dozen or more cars in front of me that did u-turns.

this is why I gave up drinking all together. Getting caught dui is not worth the costs. Even if you are a .08, which is petty, you lose so much. Since there are NO good paying jobs the government needs money to run and its going to suck the money from the people. So many people went to jail, lost their job, or can't get hired because insurance will not cover them in certain jobs. Any YES, dui kills..etc, Check point is nothing more than dirty pool. It is liken to casting a fishing net into a lake instead of using a fishing pole.

Go team dui !!

No, but the Fourth Amendment IS a RIGHT.
(At least it used to be)

It's the same with the all the others:

You can own firearms, UNLESS .....
You can speak and pray freely, UNLESS .....
You can assemble peacefully, UNLESS .....
You can't be unreasonable searched, UNLESS .....

Everything is a privilege these days.
There are no more "RIGHTS".

Yeah, that's the problem. The government has no right to grant privleges, driving without causing personal injury to someone should be a right. Arresting someone for something thatthey "could have possibly done" is plain wrong! If it is laegal than it should be across the board, if they have a checkpoint,ALL must submit to a test, all the percocet and valium soccer moms you see strooling around the malls all day in a trance do not smell like alcohol, so they are never tested. Discrimination against the smell of ones breath is as bad as racism! Test one, test all!

If Pennsylvania's goal is to get drunks off the road, a good place to start is by not selling the stuff that gets people drunk. It's ludicrous for the state to be in the booze business and claim the goal is to get drunks off the road.

It's all about money. Pennsylvania makes millions from the sale and the arrest. What a terrific business plan!!!

Neither do I, it is the point that this should not be legal,if it was legal in all aspects, not just people who smell of alcohol or are stupid enough to rollup to a checkpoint smokin a bowl, every one. Then maybe people would realize what the problem is with our rights bein violated.
