I just ran into an old classmate from Lewisville High School Class of 1978. He was so friendly and we had so much to share and reminisce. Then I ask him if he had children and he paused and reflected and said that he had lost his beautiful 18 yr old son just three weeks ago to a heroine overdose.
I truly can't come to terms with the level of grief he and his family must be going through. I just wanted to post a note somewhere appropriate to say: My Heart Breaks and my Eyes Fill with Tears, my Mind Aches and I Tremble with Fear at the thought of your pain and sorrow. Our deep sympathy and condolences for you and yours. Our prayers and thoughts are with you. |

One of my best friends died a few years ago and nobody wants to talk about it. I had one of "Flower Mound's Finest" (ha ha) tell me it didn't happen.I'm sorry but I'm pretty sure it did. I guess they are too worried about searching people's cars who don't deserve it (four times never had a thing), accussing people of being on drugs when they are not and have never done drugs, or picking on people walking home from work. They need to get their heads out of their you know whats and pay attention to what they really need to be doing. This town is the perfect little town for a Stephen King novel. It looks so pretty but evil lies beneath

Anyone interested in setting up a new chapter in flower mound called SADD. The chapter has changed its name from Students Against Drunken Drivers to Students Against Destructive Decisions. SADD has become a peer leadership organization dedicated to preventing destructive decisions, particularly underage drinking, other drug use, impaired driving, teen violence and teen depression and suicide.

please, drugs are all over the place in all lewisville schools. you cant turn your head and deny them any longer..parnts should be the first line of defense, but what the heck, most of them did drugs in the 60's. sad state of affaires
|
||||
And you can't do anything about it there is so many drugs down here you don't couldn't even imagine ya its pretty safe from murder rape and robbery but they have no control over drugs even though they have harsh search and seizure laws |
||||
I am sure you have it so tough in Flower Mound, you are so white bread living in that town its ridiculous...just another bored rich snotty nosed kid with an attitude. Hopefully your parents money will keep you from having to deal with the real world |
||||

yeah, just another snotty nosed rich kid...i am sure you have it so hard in your white bread rich kid world...just another bored spoiled little preppy brat...hope your parents have enough money to protect you from the real world

My message to other teens. Start wearing your pants around your waist instead of your knees, quit with the drugs and smarten up. I'm tired of getting treated like a piece of dirt because you can't figure out its you thats giving the rest of us a bad name.

i went to marcus high school in flower mound, and I had a lot of drug problems including two overdoses. I dont know how one expects a school to prevent this. A school is a learning place but does NOT take the place nor should it of parenting. The school cannot get blamed for it they do more than is called for by a school. im now working in schools and drugs are everywhere, but its a nasty shock to those who live in ivory towers when they realize it effects them just as much as others. schools can educate but not dictate, marcus did a mandatory class to help build positive relationships with people outside of a students normal circle; it involved vol. from the community teacheres and small groups of students of different years. marcus also did car searches, and drug dogs. a school can educate, and a public school can ONLY educate what is aloud by the government The ones who should be putting forth an effort is the parents because that is far more direct and appropriate than a school. the school will just become overwhelmed if it has to take up the proper role of a parent along with educate. |

I went to Marcus, Class of 2000. I never knew anyone who did drugs. I was never offered any, ever. I did know several who smoked cigarettes. I was offered one, but I said "no thanks." As I really didnt like the smell, forget about the health issues. "No thanks." It really was that easy. I grew up with Nancy Reagan telling me to "Just say no" It was that simple.
We had the Dare program in elementary school......but how often are elementary school kids are exposed to that? Not saying they arent, but why arent these programs in high school? I went, so I KNOW theyre not learning anything despite being a so called "blue ribbon" school. They'll let school out early so the entire school would have a chance to attend a football game should we chose to go, but have an asembly or class to remind us how bad drugs are? I also was never harassed by the police like the kids today are, despite having a bright red flashy sports car. My brother, FMHS Class of 2010, gets harassed all the time, every time hes searched. Once he was sleeping over at a friends house and the police called my mother in the middle of the night thinking he had broke curfew. Just because his car wasnt parked at the same place it was registered, and yes, they did search it then too. While thats a little extreme, Im not "mad" at them. A year or so after that my brother was at the wrong place at the wrong time. There was a major drug bust at a convenient store he was at. They searched his car, and even though he had no connection with the other person, they found marijuana in his car, and several open beer bottles (he was 16). I am angry with my brother, not the police. Why? well, its not their fault my brothers a moron. Plus, they may have saved his, and possibly other peoples lives with this one single arrest. We were unaware that this drug/alcohol abuse was going on. How? well, he was never home. He was constantly with his friends, and we all know the importance of fitting in and having "friends." Its pretty much beaten into us. By catching him in this stage, its most likely he wont get worse. Things I learned from the police: Any child who smokes cigarettes also smokes marijuana (Im assuming most, not all) If they dangle air fresheners in their rear view mirror, they do drugs. This is just what Im told, so I suppose thats just what they look for. My brother did have these in his car, but they were actually a birthday present from my cousin - sort of a "bought something for your car" type of thing. |

Actually, students can make a difference. Use peer pressure and let those around you that drugs are a no-win thing. Also tell those that wear their pants around their knees that the look is rather stupid looking, not to mentioning highly amusing to others who are simply taking bets on when the pants will fall down, and under what circumstances...

i attended marcus in '83, and yes, there were drugs back then.
i know what i am about to say will get me thrown under the bus, but here goes....stay home with your children. most people have the misconception that big houses, expensive cars and all the other perks of two-income households are necessities. they are wrong. what your children(including teenagers) need is parental supervision. |

You have no idea what you are talking about at all. So I would advise you to keep your opinions to yourself and please learn how to spell.

The sad part of this tragedies, is that most parents know about this, I personally know one that works for LISD and I personally told His Mother about his heroin use and drug selling in the area, the bad part of this is that my good girl started dating this gangster and turned to be just like him,She moved out with him, he beats her up, I told his mother and police records and even with all this information, she is still covering up and defending this juvenile delinquent, so do You think is hope for our youth, when the parents excuse their children's bad behavior> I tried to get my child away from him many times but she is an adult and the fm police told me there is nothing i can do, rehab centers told me the same. I hope this horrible boy ends up in jail AGAIN.

So sad to hear about your loss, I have never in my entire life seen so many young people dying of drug abuse. But, sometimes parents DO know about their childre's activities and choose to do NOTHING! I personally Know about a Mom that works for the LISD and knows about her BABY BOY'S drug use, heroin, cheese, and drug dealing, I personally told her and she just said, he is still my son, so frustrating for me because my daugther started datind this gangster abou 3 years ago and completly changed, she now lives with him, beats her up, his mom knows this, i have police reports but since she is an ADULT 20 years old, FM police told me there is nothing I can do,same with all the rehab centers I contacted. So who is at fault most of the time?
