Abilene 22nd-poorest city in Texas

Roughly 17 percent of Abilenians live below the poverty line, making Abilene the 22nd-poorest among 49 Texas cities listed in a U.S. Census Bureau report released this week.

Abilene is one town that will never advance, especially when things are offered to come into Abilene such as buinesses, water parks. There is nothing for our youth, if they get into mischief it's no fault but the Abilene City council and the lack of concern for the poor here in Abilene. Certain ones in Abilene are just worred about their own greed and no one elses. It's find to give when thankgiving and Christmas come around, but these people need more on a daily basis. How about job's that could have been brought into Abilene and the many times you have turned it away. For a big shame.

why the hell would you ask john hills oppinion on anything. what a moron! i mean if people like him knew anything at all they would be more than a college professor. i mean you are asking someone that probably has income right at the poverty line why everyone else is in poverty. use your heads and its easy to figure out why abilene is in poverty. all this garbage you hear from people of this city about not wanting certain businesses because of these lame excuses like saying its not a christian business, or whatever other garbage they come up with is exactly what i just said, garbage. here is the deal, they tell you a race track or water park isnt a christian business? so if you race cars or swim you cant be a christian? or what about the boat factory that never happened because we were concerned with polution?
how about use our head here and see that we didnt want the boat factory because it was going to employee several hundred people at about triple the average wage of abilene, and some of these christians looking out for your better intrest didnt want to have to compete with that in the businesses they own or manage. as for the water park and race track, well those would have brought tourism here which would have brought some of your bigger convinent store franchises here that would be selling gas and other things, and that takes away from more of the christians looking out for you.

Abilene is completely infested with mexicans and mexicans breed poverty. They seem to have plenty of money to spend on ground effects for their pickups and big chrome letters for their back windows, beer and music, but they still breed poverty.

The boat factory is across the street from Abilene Regional Airport (Tige').As for Mexicans,some of my,and my son's ,and my daughter's best friends are Mexicans.I have friends from Laos,and some black friends.Moral of this story is assholes come in all colors,as do friends.As for Ft.Worth,I work there at the Navy base,and there are people of all races who work there,and some of my co-workers can't spell anything right,but it does'nt make them stupid.Best guess is Mr. literate can't completely dis-assemble a C-130,then put it back together again.

yeah there is a boat factory, but mr pigeon wanted to build a new and much bigger one that employeed hundreds of people, but the city said no

They gladley took the jobs fron General Dynamics (Lockheed Martin) People in my deparment went to the street.
They have the state 4H show there. Plenty of tourist money. Easely a million dollars in the city coffers.
They will host the Texas High school Rodeo We(2) grandparents, will spend about 1000. dollars just to watch a grand child. Multiply that by 100 AVG per class.
Some qualified in more than 1 class. Not many.
There will be 11 0f our family there spending money.
There are a lot of shows there like these every yr.
The illegals bring down the wages and the theft goes up.
God it is hot and humid there. I wish it were cool There.

The boat factory IS NEW!!!!! It's just not on the shores of Lake Ft. Phantom as Tige' had desired. It is no longer spread about town on hwy.277 (two addresses),and the address of the upolstery/completion center on business hwy.80.As I said before,It's New,Large,and is on hwy 36 across from the airport. As for illegals,they are everywhere in the U.S A., Not just Abilene,or Texas for that matter. My friends are U.S. Citizens,and pay taxes as all citizens must do,(even though some U.S.citizens don't).Also note that Lockheed has a rather large factory in Ft.Worth near the base.They test fly F-16's there almost everyday.

Goverment do the F15s. Lockheed M is At the base and uses it in Ft. Worth.
Support equipment is built there at the base in Abilene by ------. To be reworked in FT Worth.

For the record,I work at JRB. I can count one one hand how many times I've seen an F-15 in two years.There are an abundance of twin tail F-18 Hornets operated by the Marines that could be confused at a distance by a greenhorn as an F-15.LM builds F-16's there new,and again test fly them over the base ALL THE TIME!!!!!
