I am very angry with AT&T right now, but I will say their Asset Protection folks do not terminate, their HR staff does. And they do not terminate without a smoking gun..

Sorry, but as a victim of Asset Protection, they do terminate and no smoking gun is needed.
Broken Security System

I had AT&T UVerse TV put in about a week ago. The installer acidentally damaged my security system while running a coaxial cable drop down a wall. Against better judgment for some reason he decided to run one of the cable drops down the same wall cavity that all of the wires for the alarm box occupy. Now my security sytem is giving me a false reading on 1 security zone in my house indicating that something is open when in fact nothing is open. My alarm is not under a monitoring service contract so I cannot just rely on a security company to fix it without paying at least $65/hour for an alarm specialist to repair it. The alarm was working just fine before the installer started working, I confronted the installer and I went around the merry go around a few times with him before I finally convinced him to elevate the issue to his supervisor. I was told I would be called back on 2 separate occassions and never was, lucky for me since I have had experience with being told I would be called and not called I insisted on getting a number to call which turned out to be his supervisor's personal cell phone number. I finally contacted his supervisor and his supervisor was somewhat understanding about the issue and assured me that I would be taken care of. His supervisor told me that this issue would be sent over to the asset protection department. I have yet to hear from them. All I can say is that if AT&T does not fix this then they can come and pick up their stuff and lose a generous $75/month on going fee from me for not having the Uverse TV service. The installer was very nice and knowledgable about the service and did a really good job. I completely understand that this was an honest accident that could easily happen to any installer, but on the flip side if I were to sell my house, I would need to spend my own money to get this problem fixed so that it would not become an issue on the buyer's inspection report. I hope AT&T fixes this problem soon because it has caused me a big headache.

For those of you who have experienced problems with AT&T, let me tell you what to do with them. First of all, if you just want a basic line (no features), tell the agent you want a 1FR line...that should be around $13.58 plus federal charges...total should be around $21....if you have one of those programs called COMPLETE CHOICE..either BASIC or ENHANCED...if you try to cancel with customer service, GOOD LUCK...they will give you 1000 reasons why not to do it. They do this because the agent gets a charge back in their productions for that day if your account was established over 90 days...what you should tell them is: I'D LIKE TO DISCONNECT MY LINE...and they will transfer you to a different department (Retention) where they will do whatever you tell them to do....I used to work for AT&T and I understand your pain because I used to be part of the problem

I'm having a hard time with the cancelation dept at at&t. Been with them a total 20 years & they won't get me a new phone.I'm ready to flip! Do I NEED TO JUST CANCEL & PLAY THEIR BLUFF? I was ready to tear my hair out.

Thought it was a wonderful company.... But asset protection and HR are both a joke...I am in HR with a different company and deal with HR personnel with a lot of fortune 500 companies and AT&T's HR is pathetic.. No clue what they are truly doing... And I had a good friend forced to resign over something really ridiculous ...they were only trying to downsize st the expense if an older excellent employee...HR terminates or forces retirement with no good cause but battling any larrge corporation's mega legal team takes years and no one wants to interrupt their lives for that long

Is there anyone out there that has information on a lawyer who has won against ATT before if so, can you post lawyer info here asap. i too have filed complaint after complaint with internal eeoc and ethics and assest protection --now i see why no one is terminated--I dont understand how a manager can falsify company records and damage someones character off a log of statements are not true..

AT&T HAS BEEN CHARGING ME FOR A PHONE LINE SINCE 1/2010 THAT I HAD DISCONNECTED. Their idea of resolve was to have me on hold on 3 different days, 1 day I didn't have time to wait, day 2 I was placed on hold until they were closed for the day (my personal favorite) and just today, it took 1 hour 10 minutes to get a refund of 3 months.

If there is any way for me to stay away from AT&T in the future I will, and it will be for their lack of customer service or even customer concern.

My husband was terminated because he was trying to do the right thing. Now we are facing bankruptacy thanks to HR's actions. Someone higher up needs to look into the dealings/employees of the Mississippi offices/work centers....alot of cover ups and corruption.

Your lack of intalectual ability to have a civil conversation and or comment shows your not credible. While I have a diverse background I don't know how to install this stuff and some of it looks easy and some of it looks like a real pain in the rear. For you to make the statements you have made that people deserve bad service shows your maturity level. This is a service people are paying for. They deserve fantastic service. If it were free beg genres can't be choosy. You must be an I smaller and I'll be willing to bet you do a very poor job installing with the attitude you have. Grow up and do our job right that you are getting paid to do.

Do u mind telling me the situation? Just curious that we may have a very similar story! HR screwed my husband too. Being honest and ethical does not go over well with this company!

You customers are fed up with At&t, how do you think it feels to work for them. These I&R managers couldnt get a job at Radio Shack if they wanted to.
Management plays their games so we play ours. What corporate / suit and tie folks dont realize is that what comes around goes around. Management doesnt care about its customers. In the old Bell days, no one was without phone service longer than a day but now it might be a week. Management cant do our job but they try to tell us how to do our job. I will be sooo glad when the company goes on strike for weeks. It will put management back in check. Sedgwick a 3rd party insurance carrier for At&t are a bunch of crooks too. But not smarter than me!

Sorry but what upper management has allowed the other departments to do this to its employees. Stick it to the technicians and put the fear of god in them so that they wont complain. you have to be smarter than management like me.
