I will agree with that 100%!!!!!!

The few areas of the Heights that are by the minimalist standards to be considered "OK', are for the first time I've ever seen, have "For Sale" signs out enmasse. Take the Country Club Road area, arguably the nicest neighborhood in Chicago Heights, NEVER, have I seen so many for sale signs. And the stone cold reality, is that No One wants to move to Chicago Heights. Its painful to aknowledge, but true nonetheless. Are young professionals moving here to "raise a family", only if they have less than 4 brain cells. As it stands, real estate is an investment, and buying in Chicago Heights offers zero as far as Rate of Return on Investment is concerned. Lights out, The party's over I think every home or building of 75 years old north of the hospital should be torn down and cleared. Lets get some mobile homes and level the east side of chicago heights like they did on illinois steet in the mid 60,s. That would take 4 years and would create thousand of jobs.

A shame this thread wound down. My parents still live in CH, and I often cruise by the older homes on Euclid and in the CC area and wonder what could be, but it is only a daydream at this point and any renewal efforts seem doomed.

Chicago Heights has been long over. Jumped the shark in the late 1960s. Since then, the nearby rural areas have blossomed. Therefore, this town has been struggling to make every end meet since then. It's going to be a very hard, uphill battle for Chicago Heights. Because the town somehow loves "more of the same," I would forget Chicago Heights if I were you. The new mayor is at least trying to fix the city from further trouble. I do not know if the new programs will work. I do strongly support the leveling ideas. Good luck to this town. I have never lived in Chicago Heights. I am from Hickory Hills. I travel through Chicago Heights when I want to visit the rural towns along Route 1. This is usually on weekends when I am not working.
