If Deluca is nominated for Scully seat the Hts will be in bad shape. The Mayor is the only good from that administration.

qball....you should laugh and then cry!

mr. integrity....he is not the only good one from the administration. he is in fact a crook just like the rest of them!

john....that's the problem with everyone in this city because all they care about is what's in it for me. you sound like you have no principles!

wake up citizens of chicago heights and citizens of the 80th district. the deal has been set without regard to your desires or vote. democratic committee man terry mathews has made a deal with the crooks of chicago heights and this is how it will look:

democrat matthews will appoint republican deluca to the democratic 80th district congressional seat and in return republican deluca and the chicago heights alderman will appoint democratic alderman alex lopez to republican deluca's mayoral job in chicago heights. these individuals have been working together under the guise of coalition party in chicago heights for several years but there is absolutely nothing coalition about it. the white republicans and democratic hispanics teamed up to help themselves and not to help the citizens of chicago heights. they have been enriching themselves at your expense and yet the votes seem oblivious to it all. why....complete apathy i guess or stupidity.

since winning office in 2003 mayor deluca has installed an unethical police administration that was completely involved with the former corruption of ex deputy chief sam mangialardi who went to federal prison for 10 years. these administrators (chief anthony murphy, deputy chief michal camilli and patrol commander michael brink) all were involved in mangialardi's illegal operation and testified against him in federal court in order to avoid being charged with felony crimes.

mayor deluca and the corrupt police and fire board also disegarded several fireman who scored above the 80 percentile and promoted fireman rich amadio to the rank of deputy chief with a dismal score in the 40 percentile. this is the same fireman who broke into the old peter levin pontiac building after the dealership had closed and stole property from within. he avoided being charged with a felony because of the same bullshit politics that have resulted in terrible morale within the ranks of the police and fire departments.

has mayor deluca done anything good for the city of chicago heights? well i'm sure he has but he has done so much more harm than you can imagine. he is completely unethical and i'm sure one day soon you will be completely shocked when the feds move in and charge him and many administrators in the police and fire departments with felony crimes.

many people throughout the state voted for governor blago because they believed he did good things for the state of illinois. however, doing some good things while enriching yourself and friends is not anly unethical but illegal.

the people of illinois woke up a few weeks ago and decided to get rid of blago and now it is up to the people of chicago heights and the 80th district to say, "enough is enough"!

Heights Honest Cop,
I think you have a personal agenda your hiding? I have to give the mayor an A for the way he has turned the Heights around. I think the Heights is heading in a good direction under the current mayor.

The fact is there has been, atleast in the mayors first term, some very questionable things that were going down as was reported in the STAR.
"Heights Honest Cop" has covered most of this, so I will not repeat them.

Making matters worse, there are individuals appointed by this administration with histories, and not good ones, relating to past scandals within Chicago Heights, some may recall the label given to our fair city "the most corrupt city in America" as reported in USA Today.

In a properly functioning democratic society, it would be assumed that the citizenry would start to ask some very serious questions regarding whom is handling the publics business. At minimum.

Sadly, this is not the case here.

And the administration likely knows it very well, as did administrations in the past. We don't really have independant papers, or even local press anymore, so proper reporting that should exist to inform citizens is lacking.
Sadly, even when it was reported there seemed to be no meaningful response by the public.
So progress is judged by superficial things that people can see, like strip shopping malls, or gas stations.

If I had to take a shot at capturing the essence of the voter in Chicago Heights, it would be that the majority white population is scared that if they do not put someone they know in office,'The heights will go down", forget the fact that by most American citizens standards CH is already a relativley crummy place. No outsider, however qualified, could run on good ideas and credentials and expect to win, the individual would not be part of the social set that is dominant.

In the article. Dan Proft who ran the Deluca campaign, said Deluca ran on a classical Republican philosophy of small government and entrepeneaurship, that may have been what Proft was trying to achieve in his "messaging".
Heights elections are a popularity contest, and everybody knows it.

They are not based on issues, ideas, nor qualification.

hmmmm, so i must have a personal agenda? mr. integrity, why is it that when someone questions wrongdoing on the part of the mayor or police administrators then that person must have a "hidden agenda"? do you think that maybe just maybe there may be some truth to what i'm saying? i'm tired of hearing about all these great things that deluca is doing for the city. all i know is he is dishonest and unethical and that is enough for me. aren't you a little upset about paying the extra $50.00 tax every two months on your water bill when that tax was supposed to end last may? you use the name mr. integrity but you seem to be the one who clearly has a hidden agenda maybe it's you that has a hidden agenda. we just went through this baloney in state government with the governor and now we're about to go through with it right here in the south suburbs. do you honestly believe that nobody will question the fact that democratic committeeman terry matthews will appoint a republican mayor named anthony deluca to outgoing 80th district congressman scully's seat? well you're not fooling anyone here!!!

I agree, this Qball fool definately has a hidden agenda. It sounds like you were on the short end of the stick with a decision Deluca made. Your angry and your a cry baby. 90% of the crap you said is false anyway. You should get a job writing in Hollywood. Comparing Deluca to Blago, your ridiculous. Name one thing unethical, appointing someone you do not like is not unethical. Reducing staff is not unethical. Sounds like you were fired.

How is that I have a hidden agenda?

Any concern I have is based off of news reports, and the past histories of certain administration appointements.

In Chicago Heights, raising legitimate concerns regarding city government is a big no no, lets all just hold hands and live in a fantasy bubble in awe of our great leaders. You can find the same thing in most totalitarian societies

For Mike S it appears its much more important to shine the masters shoes.

Regarding Rep. Scullys vacant seat, this seat is supposed to go to a Democrat. DeLuca is a Republican, as everyone in CH well knows. For the mayor to say "It wouldnt be good to say if was a Democrat or Republican cosidering CH doesnt have party affiliation in city government is just a blatant act of deception, only this time it will effect all residents of the 80th district.

qball....i think he was referring to me. mike s is a very funny guy to say that we have hidden agendas just because we disagree with this administration. mike s is in fact ex alderman mike sabo. so of course given the fact that he has been given a patronage job as the superintendant of the street department when there already is a director of the street department, he has absolutely no credibility to say we have a hidden agenda against the city!

Look from what I see he is doing a great job. However, if he is appointed Rep of the 80th district the Hts better appoint someone who has a vision as Deluca.

I remember growing up knowing, along with everyone else, that I lived in one of the most corrupt cities in America. I personally witnessed the police department do things that would have put most 20`s era gangsters to shame. Everyone knew that the Heights was being run by a long standing edict set forth by Italian gangsters and that there was absolutly nothing anyone could do to change it. I see that this has not changed. The best thing anyone living in Chicago Heights can do is sell the house, pack-up and get the hell out while you can as I and many of my friends did many years ago.

Amen!! I thought I was the only one on this city who really sees what is going on. Anyone else who does not live in the city has no clue.

Hahahah! Is that who Mike S is? I have often wondered. Its ok really. Everyone has got an opinion but we will have to see as far as the 80th district.
