So, when you don't know what to do you kill your baby? There are sooooo many options. Suffocating your newborn is NOT one of the better ones.

Unless the laws have changed, a judge can sentence a child to a juvenile detention center for a length of time.

Again, read this SLOWLY if you need to hun! You can't sentence a kid to a specific amount of time in Juvie. It is not a punative system, it is designed to rehabilitate. I know these are big words for you but you can do it!

Think about something that was posted, no licensed day care can take this kid for her to do her community service because of the insurance. So just how is she supposed to get re-habilitated if no licensed daycare can take her? She can't and therefore, she wont'. And no matter what anyone says, bleeding hearts included, you cannot negate the fact that this person didn't know killing someone was WRONG! I don't care if she thought she had no other options, she knew MURDER - KILLINING ANOTHER was wrong. And she can be sentenced to juvie till 18 then an adult prison. There was an old re-run of a re-run on the other day which made me think. The person said, just because a person kills 3 members of a family and is declared mentally insance doesn't mean they shouldn't pay for their crimes. They should receive the help, but then pay for their crimes. Life sucks, get over it. These people who kill are mentally insane! Anyone who thinks they can take a life because they have no other options is insane, especially in this day and age when it is taught about birth control, AIDS, HIV, placing the child on a Church's door stop or a fire department. For Heaven's sake the kid only lived within walking distance from the Fire Department. Please, if she knew enough to have sex and an give head and have an orgasim, you really expecct us to believe she didn't know that one of the consequences of her actions would be a possible pregnancy? Come on. You are not giving this kid enough credit. They aren't as niave as we were years ago at 14. You mean to tell me that she didn't know the difference between getting a D in a subject and getting grounded from having sex and getting pregnant? This is not 20 years ago, these kids are educated, they know what they are doing. Here's a real simple solution: keep her in juvie till she turns 18, has her education and diploma, send her to a home where she has to have a job, go to counseling and be in by a certain time. She is not in jail after 18, she receives a diploma, gets the counseling and wow, she may be a productive human being as well as serving her time for the murder of a child. She learns her lesson, pays her debt to society and if all goes well, she lives day in and day out till she dies that she killed her own baby. That is justice.

A judge can recommend a range of time for a juvenile to complete the phases of rehabilitation. And those are not set in stone because if the JDC staff (therapists, doctors, PO's) all report the kid is doing well then their time is up and they go home. I dont think this kid "snapped" or had some kind of lapse in judgement. I think she killed this baby because she was selfish and arrogant, and thought that she would get away with it. She wasn't the brightest lightbulb in the box, but she is smart enough to know better. Kids are naive, you have to be naive to think you could kill a baby and chuck it into the kitchen pantry for several hours then pitch it in the garage garbage can and no one would ever know. In her warped little mind this was er only option. But yes we all know there were easier options. I think this girl is a sociopath, but I also think she is a product of her environment. I also think that the JDC hold on to the worst of the worst, and when they come in they are worse when they get out. They sit around 24 hours a day comparing what I did with what she did with what he did and it all adds up to Columbine. And while I am certain that she fully understood that if she had sex she could possibly get pregnant, she is a kid and kids don't make the wisest decisions. If I forget to take my pill tonight, hubby gets no nookie for at least a week! but I don't think all teenagers think things out like that. They have that invincible attituude.

The prosecutor had the option to file an EJJ or extended jurisdiction of a juvenile. That would have given her a juvenile sentenct which she got plus the possibility to snatch her @ss back into "prison" as an adult age 17 or older if she screwed up again, but they didn't do it. They charged her with 2nd degree which was insane. But the system is overburdened and under funded. Trust me this kid is not concerned one bit about this incident. It's like it never happened. What is really sad is that when she does hit 18 as long as she doesn't screw up again between now and then, the entire incident will be vacated.

So she was scared stupid? She did not know she should bring her baby to a Safe Haven instead of killing it? "The Safe Haven Law provides that a parent -- who might otherwise abandon their child in an unsafe place -- can bring their unharmed newborn to a safe haven (a hospital, staffed fire station, police station, or emergency medical facility). Police stations were added to this list in 2004."

I guess she was that stupid to think that her only recourse was to kill her newborn. One day soon she'll get pregnant again and kill again because of this 'punishment.' That judge needs to GO.

The entire miscarriage of justice in this case is a classic "poster child" of why the system, and Sauk Village Police are broken. I read that this woman has mostly foster children in her home, at last count 8. Where is DCFS sign in on all of this? Not to mention, the fact that the girl was pregnant and gave birth at 14 YEARS OF AGE that there was never a follow up for a sexual assault or crime follow-up as the age of consent in Illinois is 17. Whether or not the girl gave consent to sex is not even an issue, because the law states otherwise. No mention of the male that was responsible for this being sought or arrested for sex with an underage minor. Another example of SVPD not following the law or following through on an obvious crimminal investigation.

Then there is the Judge's decision. Perhaps this young lady does deserve a second chance. But she also deserves her perpetrator and violator brought to justice.

She should have to be the nanny for Stuttleys children... what an idiot we have for a judge... he wants her to watch MY children?

She should be ordered to check in to the Stuttley house to watch his kids or grandchildren.

Why do we support this kind of government?

Daily Horoscope for December 4

Aquarius

It's so easy to deceive yourself in some way today, especially if you allow wishful thinking to get the upper hand. Don't ignore some unpalatable facts, Aquarius, or the situation will be compounded. Are you trying to keep on the right side of someone you admire or respect? Does this mean presenting a false or highly selective image of yourself? I hope not.
