Does anyone know if Florissant has a special day that they will pick up the leaves from the yard if they are racked in piles at the end of the yard like Hazelwood does?

Let those leaves blow over to Hazelwood.

I don't think Florissant can afford leaf pickup -- but they do have a really nice $40k fountain at the corner of St. Francois and New Florissant Rd.

NO they don't. You have to purchase yard waste in order to get them picked up. Or you can just burn them.

If you are in the city limits of Florissant you CAN'T burn them.

I take mine to the Composting place at the corner of Hwy 67 and Hwy 367. They charge $1 a bag in the paper leaf bags.

Leaf burning is prohibited in all of Saint Louis County. Florissant has never had leaf collection. I maybe mistaken, but I think it is against City ordinance to rake leaves into the gutter/street or sewers intentionally. I know it's against City ordinance to blow grass clippings in the street.

The City has used the street sweepers to clean the gutters in the Spring and Fall in the past. But with the budget cut, who knows?

I seen the street sweepeer on my street the other day but everybody on my street doesn't but them in the gutters I have seen that in hazelwood but that would sure be a mess with wind. The easy way is just mulch them with your lawn mower but thats just my opinion

I will burn whatever I please on my own property. I was half kidding when I posted earlier but I know its hard to detect sarcasm on a message board.

We had a huge fire in our backyard about a month ago burning all kids of sticks and branches we had piled up.

I would say burning sticks and twigs is different than burning leaves. Sales and popularity of the patio fireplace is booming. You can burn twigs and branches in those. I know someone who burns his leaves in one of those. It takes a long time, but they did it.

Rake them into a pile in your driveway and mulch them with your lawnmower. You can reduce the volume down ALOT. I do it every year and make a leaf pile two feet deep and ten feet in diameter fit into one small bag.

You could do like one of my old neighbors used to do and just blow them all into the street. Be prepared for your neighbors to hate you if you do this.

I remember a time when women weren't proud of being a single mom.

Maybe you would be proud if your husband beat you, tried to get you to abort each of your pregnancies, and then left you and your children when you decided they were worth raising.

Maybe raising kids on your own after you've been left twisting in the wind, working by day and going to school part time would make a single mom proud.

Maybe just loving the kids would be enough...or trying to keep leaves cleaned up around the home like any good homeowner would.

Why is "shame" heaped on the moms who decide to be there for their children but not on the men who don't stick around to raise and support those kids?

Single mom, you've got alot to be proud of, especially your kids.

I've been there, single mom. Don't let these people get you down.

I worked very hard to raise children that have turned out 100X better than most children that have been raised by both parent homes.

Just because the parents are married (or have joint custody for that matter) doesn't mean that your children aren't being raised better or the same as their kids.

You would be surprised what I've found out about these so called "families" that let their children run wild while the parents are sleeping at night....or they skip school because the mom AND dad are both gone to work before the child has to leave for school.

My point is, not every home is a good environment is child friendly and people have to do what they can to raise the best people possibly given their own circumstances.

No...instead you may be one of the pathetic loser parents who is willing to stay in a marriage which is unloving, just on a piece of paper, or even abusive because you NEED a man or woman around instead of WANT them around because you aren't capable of taking care of yourself, let alone children on your own. Instead you may stay in a situation that teaches your children "put up with crap and abuse from whoever you end up with and teach your children like I taught you to be a coward, measure your self-worth, which will be 0 by who you are married to and just settle". You need to change your post name because its people like you with views like yours that make piss-poor parents and individuals in general. Now get back on topic.

How in the hell did this thread go from leaf pick up to abusive marriages and single mothers. I guess some people just have to find a reason to bitch.
