Village Square closing was really one of the worst things to happen for the Hazelwood and Florissant area! It really was a great place to shop! I used to love going to Old Town with my mom and to the ice shop and candy shop there!

Before they created Old Town in Village Square, some of the stores were Golde's, Flaming Pit, Kresge's, Lane Bryant???, and a shoe repair shop. There was also a drug store on the end (closest to the swimming pool) that I believe was either Gasen or Glaser drugs and a coin shop near the drug store. The swimming pool used to be where CD Reunion now stands.

I remember that you could smoke in the theater if you sat in the balcony. Good old days before the nicotine-nazis started confusing manners and liberty.
