Time for a change? But who will it be? We need another Jim Eagan who is not self centered and really cares about the city.

A WARNING to everyone that EXPRESSES / VOICES their OPINION pertaining to the City of Florissant. It appears that the Mayor of Florissant does not (like it) when a city resident publicly voices their opinion at a council meeting. So be forewarned, if something is happening in the City of Florissant of which you do NOT - like, approve of or question, you have limited choices. Whatever you do, DO NOT VOICE IT, UNLESS you are prepared to experience the WRATH of Tom. This man thrives on REVENGE.

I voiced my opinion and became proactive in trying to sustain a positive community environment with NO ADDITIONAL low-income housing project funding on October 31. On November 3, I receive a letter from the City Deputy Building Commissioner (at the direction of the Mayor) that I was in violation of City Ordinance,“operating a business from my residential residents”. Per this letter, I made several phone call attempts to the Deputy Building Commissioner to discuss but never once received a reply from my messages. On November 12 I publicly spoke at the City Council meeting expressing my concern of an INEFFICIENT department,(that they simply could not return a phone call). The following day (at the mayor’s direction) November 13 the Director of Public Works Dept. provided an Interoffice Memo, stating that,-“it has always been the policy for all persons to return phone calls as-soon-as possible and if possible on the same day.” Of course the Mayor does not believe that I called the Deputy Building Commissioner because there is no record or proof. My word against his. On November 20, I sent an e-mail to the Mayor and City Council members expressing my concerns of inefficiencies and my expectation of a public apology. I also voiced that I as well as the residents of the City should expect a publicly announced “PLAN” which should address procedures to correct deficiencies in the “return calling” procedures. To NOT my surprise, in today’s mail (November 24) my brother David (owner of the property which I reside) received 2 city citations #xx862 -#xx863 and a I received 2 city citations #xx864 -#xx865, ironically written on November 20. Operating a business without license as observe on 11/20/2012 and illegal dumping – litter, rubbish and trash on private property as observed on 11/20/2012. By Officer INSP. WHITE. The Deputy Building Commissioner is William White. The Deputy Building Commissioner is a servant (at the discretion of the Mayor) just trying to keep his job. I will be speaking again Monday night November 26 at the Council meeting to point out the inefficiencies in this department in hopes of fostering a newly created administrative “PLAN” to update the city’s current phone call policy and wrongful citations. Do not be intimidated by your local government administration always try to assist and encourage them in becoming better leaders.

And you are morally bankrupt. Plenty of us have skilled LABOR jobs because of Tom and his city's support of new businesses being built up and down Lindgergh. Where there's work, there's pride. So quit your belly aching and move along now little malcontent. Your little voice in the wilderness won't amount to shit come election day.

Union Worker,(as long as you are who you say you are) I too am a skilled union carpenter of 36 years. You do not owe your job to Tom. If you feel that you do please explain, but for me and many others we owe our career first and foremost to ourselves. I would agree that the city has strongly supported union labor please keep in mind there are nine council members who are the legislators. The current mayor as of yet has not single-handedly brought in any new businesses to this city. Everything that is going on was in the works under the previous administration. If anyone is to get credit it should be Russel whose job it is as economic development director, to promote the city and bring in new business. I understand if you choose not to agree so let me put it another way. In my 16 years on the board of education, one of seven, I have supported and work for over $330,000,000.00 worth of actual construction improvements, renovation, and new construction for the school district. All of which has been a union labor. The record shows this. So under those facts, who has done more for union labor? I still carry my card, current mayor has NEVER held a card. I co-sponsored the school policy requiring a federally approved apprenticeship program requirement for contractors who Bid and do work for school district. The city adopted our policy several years after we perfected it. Yes you were provided knowledge of your trade by the union, that was our choice. But our skill has always depended upon ourselves, no one else. Today only those who have the highest skills of a trade are working, wouldn’t you agree? Mark B

i doubt that they meant they owed their whole union career to the guy thats in office right now thats just dang crazy. what it sound like to me is that labor is backin or backed the guy thats in office now and nobody else. if there was someone else that ran against him that was labor, were they backed by labor too? not likely. labor dont get into splittin their support like that. im sure with 36 yrs in the local youre probably an good card carryin union guy no doubts about that. ive heard of your familys name out that way but i aint seen none of your work but with that kind of time in the local id say you have to be pretty good or just plain lucky or know somebody. point is i guess that town like a few others out this way puts good hard workin labor people to work on the new projects like he said he was workin on out there in north county. whoevers bringin in the union work whats it matter? those of us in labor drawin a paycheck are damn glad to be workin so whats your beef with this person? you kinda sound like your runnin for office or somethin.

until this new mayor changes the people around him and brings in better trained and more empathetic managers, this administration will continue to sink and eventually fail.
This mayor is a very weak manager and a terrible people person.

Time for a full City Charter review and consideration of a change to a City Manager type of administration structure.

With around a 29% registered voter turnout there, the idea of a charter change is a pipe dream at best.

$330,000,000.00 spent on construction projects. This is why I had to sell my home in Hazelwood School District and move to a mobil home.I couldn't afford the taxes.

KEEVEN Development
We built Parc Arbra condominiums (5) buildings behind sonic,
That farm property was originally our family's farm. Back in the day fresh vegetables and plants were grown and sold from that location. That entire area used to be farmland.

I don't know if Keeven used union or nonunion subcontractors and suppliers. I do know that his father lives across the street in the condos that we built. I did occasionally tour the two buildings while under rough construction. At that time I thought they were apartments.
