a few weeks ago I recieved a red light camera ticket.

The date of infraction was in June 2007. The Due date of the actually ticket was May 2008.

WHY the hell am I just recieving this ticket?? Its 2010.

Then, a few days later I recieved a letter stating that I hadnt paid it, didnt show up in court, etc and they're putting a warrent out for my arrest.

SERIOUSLY??? This is ridiculous.

I am NOT a lawyer (don't even play one on t.v., or on the internet for that matter), but I have had others (who I trust as fairly reliable sources of information) say that the photo generated tickets are not enforcable.

Supposedly, according to attorneys, if an individual does not even acknowledge receipt of the ticket, there is nothing the issuing municipality can do about it. It may be relevant that the camera system is outsourced, and not actually run by the city (again...just what I heard - I could very well be wrong on that).

Any lawyers or individuals with first-hand experience have any thoughts to offer?

Most of our red light cameras are handled by a company in Texas...just so you know. I would be interested to see if you actually have a warrant out for your arrest. If there is in fact a warrant, that would mean they ARE enforceable.
Please check on that and let me know.

The fact that a warrant is issued may not necessarily mean they are enforceable. Sometimes things get wrapped-up "in the system" and go through the standard process, even though the origination is not legit.

I remember in high school there was a neighborhood that was popular to cut through to get to the highway. The residents put up "No Through Traffic" signs, and even had police sitting on the side streets to write tickets for cutting through. Unfortunately for the residents, these were NOT private streets. It was a regular occurence for one of us to be issued a citation for cutting through, call the courthouse and tell the clerk the ticket was invalid, and have it dismissed. Had we not made the phone call however, I could see it possibly escalating to an arrest warrant after failing to appear.

Again, I have no real idea what I am talking about here, so anyone with solid legal knowledge (you included taco - don't know if you know something i don't), I would be interested in what you have to offer.

you need to go turn yourself in at the staton they will finger print you take your pic pay the bond and then you will get your court date and go home. the only other way around this is to get a lawyer. if you get stopped before you do one of these two things you will get arrested. i know this to be true. even being a friday a lawyer will not be able to get the warrant cleared up til monday you are on the lamb but it sounds like you have been for awhile call the police station or call city hall before they close today.

Speeding cameras are coming next.

Same concept, but portable, and can be moved around town.

Same thing as red light cameras, only photo and fine speeders.

Maybe they should put in front of banks, and catch bank robbers.

Well, I know people have tried to fight these things even when they were unfair...and have gotten nowhere and eventually end up paying them anyway..

Interesting enough...I think I just got my picture taken this weekend coming out of McDonalds at Patterson/Lindbergh
It was yellow damnit...turned red while I was right under it.

Even if warrants are non enforceable, you would still get arrested until they found out at the station...and that's a problem..and embarassing to boot.

$100 to prevent arrest...sure, whatever...
I know they just slapped me across the face with their proverbial junk...
Everyone is trying to screw you over...The government..Local State and Federal. Corporations....Utilities..The list goes on.

Soon, the middle class will be a thing of the past...How long can they rip the skin off our backs before there's none left. If I can do better sitting at home and collecting a check....then so be it..I'll get that cabin in the woods I've always wanted.

The speed cam on I-170 Charlack put up is a positive thing. It's the only honest, dependable and trustworthy thing in Charlack's police department.

The speed camera in Charlack is going to put off an insane amount of Ka band radar. People will know right where it is....slow down...and when they pass it...speed right back up.
You might have to go 60 Mph for 1/4 mile before getting on it.

Sometimes...due to unpredicted situations in traffic...you have to creep through a light and get caught up. I bet, the day you get a ticket, you will be wailin' like a baby about how it's not fair. I've seen people flip flop so many times before.

The City of Charlack depends on revenue of speeding tickets. That's why all of their city speed limits are posted 20 MPH. There's even a street I see that has a yellow warning sign that says "DOUBLE FINE SPEED ZONE" and no, it's not a School Zone.

Having these speed cams on I-170 will allow their police to do more speeding tickets on the side streets. Besides,$100 is cheaper than being pulled over by one of their officers. It cuts out the prosecuting attorney and the lawyers from collecting their share of the speeding fines.

I predict Chet Pleban will be on one local TV station declaring how it's not legal. Or maybe he was already on Fox 2. I quit watching that joke of a news station.
