I heard the same thing. That area would support low income housing very well. Plenty of new tenants within the last 10-15 yrs.

Obviously you all have not been participating in the planning sessions. Itís possible there could be some mixed use housing with a new development including some section 8 tenants (elderly, lower income, disabled), but it will never be all section 8.

Dont forget other JC Penney stores are closing as well, its not just the outlet store so lets not make this a north county/race issue. The fact of the matter is that mall has been dying for years due to lack of management. Its first problem is location. The only time I ever go that direction on Lindbergh is to get to Alton, or to go to that mall. Other than houses, there is really nothing out that direction. The land would be good for a lot of things, even just a grocery store and a gas station or something for the houses around the area. I think it would be a waste of time and money to redevelop it into another mall or entertainment venue of any sort (maybe theatre).
Its a shame it went the way it did, but whoever bought it the first time it was up for sale ran it into the ground. Macy's will be soon I'm sure, why stay there? Alton square isnt far away, and there is no reason to go to Jamestown...literally. Especially now that Tinder Box moved to Surrey Plaza.
