Anyone know what happened on St. Joseph Street? Husband drove by sat (?) and saw lots of furniture/belongings in yard and house open with lots of people carrying stuff away. When he stopped to ask what was happening, a lady loading her car said someone had died and everything was free. Is this what happens if sole owner of house dies and has no relatives?(Of course, my spouse didn't remember to tell me until the next day or so).

Sounds like looting to me.
Where were the cops?

...when someone dies their estate has to go through probate and then if there are no relatives the state takes over what is left after all the person debts are paid.
But, by STLC law,(which is what Florissant has to abide by) a landlord can legally evict someone and all their stuff is "fair game". So maybe that's what happened.
