I had court tonight for a ticket my wife got. It was a failure to show proff of insurance and they wanted 100.00 to pay it out of court. So since we have insurance I figured I go to court and show my paperwork and pay some court costs. Well unfortunately after waiting in line for an hour and a hlaf in the cold and watching a guy acidentlly pulling out a bag of weed at the metal detector and getting arrested.(pretty funny, man I forgot is what he said) I finally made it in the building. As they are getting close to my initial a women in the courtroom not even in front of the judge but from her seat starts argueing with the baliff about how they are lining people up.The judge interupts and asks her to be quiet so they could continue with court and she kept arguing so the judge replied COURTS OVER! everyone leave you will get a letter in the mail giving you a new court date! What I have never heard of such a thing while I found it to be quite funny at the time I am a little annoyed that I will have to return to court and go through all of this again.
So good job to the P.D. it seems like there was a bunch of questionable characters there to say the least so they are doing something, but damn I hate to go back to that place maybe I should make the wifey go and take care of her own ticket. just kidding but I am hoping to write a letter to the judge and give him my information and hopefully get it all thrown out.

He should have had the women arrested, not sotp court. Now the fines the city would have been collected will be delayed, plus the expense of mailing new letters. He screwed up, lazy.

Not to mention that next time you go there will be other people there that were already scheduled for court that day. Nice.

Is this judge an elected official? What is his name?

You went to court for your wife? You are lucky they called off court. You would have been told she has to appear in person. You would have had to come back anyway.

Courts is correct. Years upon years ago a man friend went to court for me because I had to work that evening and they just set another date for me to appear in person.

Either way i'm going to try and write a letter, and I was a little concerned that they wouldn't listen to me but its a simple failure to show proof of insurance and we had insurance at the time it should just be thrown out anyway. I refuse to subject my wife to that crowd of people after witnessing what I did last night if I have to I'll just pay the lawyer 75 bucks and be done with it.
It was still great humor for me though to see that crazy sh^t I;'ve never seen anything like it. And yes she should have been found in contempt and jailed or fined now the court will be packed next time. Here is what really happen though the line was still out to the street at 845 and when the office working the door stuck his head in court the judge asked him if the line had died down the officer told him not even close and then 15 min later court is cancelled. you do the math someone had plans last night me think. And I think the judge is still Kelly if i'm not mistaken

I had a similar experience last year, and I'll never forget what the police officer working the door said to all the complainers. "There's an easy way to avoid this folks, don't break the law". It was hilarious to me, but that just added fuel to the complainers fire. I was there with the same ticket as traffic offender, and they threatened to close court twice, luckily they didn't before I got my ticket taken care of. However, two people were arrested that night, and it had nothing to do with why they were at court in the first place. They were just disrespectful thugs and they deserved to be locked up. One thing that i was thinking about that night was most of the people complaining that i heard didn't even live in Florissant, they were driving through. And the one thing they all kept saying was, "i ain't neva comin thru flosint again". So maybe we need to step up traffic patrols and keep the undesirables out, just a thought

The city really should consider playing traffic court live on cable. This would be better than Council meeting and the other dumbass programs they play.

funny you say that because as I was standing in line thats all I heard too. Florissant sucks, I'm never comin back here, man they're just trying to pay for the audit I saw on the news, oh man how you think they got all these lights and nice streets. And not one of them lived in Florissant, so I'm with you step up patrols and pull people over, and heres another thought give the residents a break on the costs. maybe you could have a resident court cost and a non-resident court cost. I wonder how legal that is can you have two seperate fines for residents and non-residents. All the punks just passing through may not want to pass through anymore if it cost them a couple hundred dollars everytime they were stopped.
Also its funny you said the officer working the door said don't break the law because thats all I could think about when these people were complaining was that hey don't speed or stop at that red light next time if you dont like coming here they all act like it isn't their fault that they are there when they have no one else to blame.

well i wonder how court went last night? I thought about it at work yesterday and wanted to drive by last night and see how many people were standing in line. Since it was a carry over from the month before I have to think that they did not make it through the whole docket. And also I wanted to mention that I was the original poster to this topic and was appearing in court for my wife before it was cancelled and rescheduled, I told everyone I would write a letter to the mayor and I did. I have to say I do not like the man or what has been gooing on in our city for some time now but i am very satisfied with the way my problem was handled. I wrote an email to the mayor thanking him and the Judge for all that they do for us and appoligized for the rude ignorant people that the judge has to deal with on a monthly basis, and then I politely asked if there was anything that could be done about the no proof of insurance ticket that my wife recieved without appearing in court. I got a response from topix's favorite florissant p.d. Mr. Andy Q and he took care of the ticket for court costs. A copy of the ticket and a 24 dollar check later and I didnt have to step foot in that zoo of a courtroom for traffic court.

I have only been to traffic court twice ever in my life and one was as a witness. The other was to clear up an issue with a ticket that was wrongly issued and I was cleared of charges.
Both times I realized that traffic court is has a much higher percentage of people with (forgive my political correctness) an "intelligence deficit".
As I sat there waiting my turn listening to the people plead their cases to the judge, I wondered why more of these judges don't get jobs being straight men for comedy teams. They are pretty good at listening to these bizarre stories without laughing in the face of the defendant.
I am not surprised that someone pulled a bag of weed out as they went through the metal detector, that just backs up what I saw the times I went. A lot of people wind up in traffic court for explainable reasons. A great many wind up there because they have a hard time figuring things out for themselves.

I went to traffic court one time in Hazelwood and contested two different tickets the cop had written me. They gave me a different date for a trial when the cop would be there. It only took five or so minutes for the judge to drop both tickets because the cop had two completely different times on them.

To go even further on what a d_ick that cop was he yelled something vile to me after the trial was over in the lobby. Nothing but a class act there in Hazelwood.

I got a parking ticket a month ago and figured it would be $20 or $30. Hell no,$100 for a parking ticket, fire line not handicaped, how is Florissant in debt charging so much for tickets?

how can these idiots that are paid with our tax money just close court early because of some moron? Arrest the moron for interrupting and continue instead of making everyone else suffer because of 1 moron.
