What happened? What caused the accident? Was the driver of the truck or anyone else injured?

She crossed the median and hit the tractor-trailer head on. He had minor injuries. No one else was hurt that I know of.

I make my way home through 280W, I exit through exit 4A, I am perplexed at the sight of three crosses planted around there. two big ones and a smaller cross. I always wonder what happened in there, although some motorists trying to merge into 280W refuse to yield to drivers making their exit into 4A Eisenhower PKWY from 280. the legal speed limit is 65mph weather permitting, but not the for the whole length of 280, yet there are zoomers at 80mph. Where can one find about the record of accidents in route 280?

Very weird police action in West Orange this afternoon at about 2:00.
I280 Eastbound. 2 cars on shoulder, one with trunk open. Eastbound traffic on I-280 halted completely although there was no obstruction in the road. There were at least 4 police cars on the scene. As I continued west on 280 at least a dozen more squad cars and unmarked police vehicles (including those black SUVs) were speeding eastbound. State police, Roseland police and others. They were not all in caravan, they were responding from different locations.
Have to believe that some very bad actor was involved. Anybody know anything about this?

I saw this too coming from Millburn to W.O. on Pleasant Valley Way. A couple cops sped into the condos across from Essex Green and the entrance ramp to 280E was blocked. Through the trees you could see 5-10 cop cars on the entrance ramp, it was at that point the line of state, town and fed(? those black SUV's?) came roaring down 280. If anyone knows anything, let me know. I've been watching the news and checking northjersey.com and nj.com and haven't heard anything yet.

Melly,

Same here, like you I have not seen a thing reported, but this was major. I've seen police on the move to crime scenes before -- but nothing like this. The Star Ledger will report a three car collision like it's major news, but they have been silent on this one. It wasn't just local police in this. The same sort of SUV's that I see around Grand Central everyday were part of this too.

I came to this site figuring some local information might surface.

The police were chasing a guy who robbed a bank in Jefferson. He drove from Route 80 onto 280, then crashed his car at the Prospect Ave exit of 280 in West Orange. There were several towns' police departments involved in the chase. They finally caught in West Orange after he crashed his car.

Bill; you said "today" and posted on Friday the 16th. The weird thing is we were going from Verona to Essex Green on Sunday (around noon) and Route 280 was blocked then in both directions. People going toward Essex Green and turning onto the eastbound 280 ramp had to get back on Prospect and we could see the ramp was blocked on the other side of the road too. There was a huge backup at the light of cars trying to turn left onto Mt. Pleasant and get to 280 that way.
Were there multiple problems with that area of 280 this weekend?

Heres the Link for the accident, and the "crosses". They were placed there for my 22 year old brother that died.

Daily Horoscope for June 19

Libra

Going shopping today? Then don't be surprised if you splash out on items that are that little bit different from your usual purchases. For instance, if you set off for the supermarket you might end up buying lots of exotic ingredients so you can experiment with them. This is unlikely to get out of hand unless you're feeling bored or fed up, in which case you'll want to spend your way out of your current mood.
