I had no idea the Pee Dee Area has a Paranormal team doing research. That's great! I have always been interested in the paranormal myself. Has your team gone to Pamplico yet to check out the Bigham family cemetery or the well where supposedly parts of two people's bodies were found years ago. Both of these places are places that I was taken to when I was a teenager just for the scare factor. I sure had the creeps. I haven't been back since then, and I probably couldn't find the places now. But maybe your team has heard of them, and could do some research and place another article in the Morning News to let us all know more about the stories behind these places. Contact me if you would like at junebug6461@yahoo.com, and oh, by the way, I love to do research myself on ebay for different electronics and all kinds of other stuff and might could help you some in that area. I also have a few stories of my own where I feel that I have encountered the paranormal, so I definitely feel you are all on to something there. And could you post a link to your website? I didn't see it in the Morning News article anywhere. I just wanted to read more about what yall do. And btw, I am also a huge Stephen King fan as I see that some of you are, too. Bye for now!

I just wanted to comment on Montross Graveyard and say that I have also been there, and that is one spooky place, especially if you go at nighttime. It has all those old, old grave stones, with most of them broken and fallen down. And all that Spanish Moss hanging off of the trees adds to the eeriness, too. Where can I go to read your research and maybe see some of the pictures you took there? Is there a link to a site online that you can post so I can check it out? Happy Hunting!

Hi Jill, We have been to Lowther's Hill Cemetery (the real name for Montross) many times. The place has now been cleaned up and is really looking good. The church in charge, Mechanisville Baptist, has really taken an interested in it lately. They have even placed a gate at the enterence to keep the kids out. I just hope everyone respects the fact that Lowther's Hill is the final resting place of several confederate, revolutionary soldiers, the founder of Hartsville, and many everyday people.

Please respect the place~ find somewhere else to party! Sorry about that, I tend to get carried away sometimes. ;)

I have not heard aboput the well, but we are aware of the Bigham story. Now to just find someone who knows where the home is located. We have run into several dead ends in trying to find info about the location.

As for the website, it is www.peedeeparanormal.org The Morning News listed it as dot com but they were suppose to make the correction in Sundays paper.

I visited Montross w/ four other people on the night of 11/01/2008. When we first arrived there was another vehicle so we circled the cemetary and parked. We were'nt sure where the actual graves we're located. All we had were a couple of flashlights so we didn't really notice they were in the circle. Nevertheless, we also notice a trail. There were posts that lead to a clearing. So we began to travel down the path. We were probably about a football's length away from the actual grave site. A few minutes later we saw more headlights, so we headed back towards the circle. Another group of like maybe ten people came to check things out. They were rather loud and obnoxious. I believe there group was made up of mostly a few preteens..and some adults. Anyways..they showed us where the actual graves were. We took some pics there. And I don't know much about paranormal activity myself, but several of the photos taken near the stones did show small circles.(I was told these were called orbs) I want to say that in a couple of spots it felt somewhat colder, but it was cold out period. I really can't accurately say that it was a definite drop in the temperature. After wandering around aimlessly for several minutes, we all decided to travel back down the clearing and then go further into a path, left of the larger clearing. The other group followed close behind. We all stood quietly for a few minutes..never heard anything other than small animals. However, to the right of the smaller path..a little ways into the trees..we saw a blurry bluish light. It seemed to be maybe like 6ft or higher. It also seemed to fade in and out, but it was never bright. Everyone single person there that night saw it. I even looked 3 or 4 times..thinking maybe my eyes needed to adjust to the darkness w/ out the flashlights. On all occasions it was the same. It didn't really seem to move or change positions. From what I could see, it only faded in and out. I read that you had been there before. I'm curious what you guys saw or experienced yourselves. If you want you can just email me @ imberlyk84@yahoo.com.

The Bigham house has been torn down for awhile now. My grandmother played inside as a kid and she described many hidden passages and doors within the home.
As for the Lowders Hill Cemetary. I don't see why people think they will ''see ghost'' when they go to a place that is trashed from parties and what not. IF there were any spirits around i doubt they have any energy to be shown to such a crowd.

Why should we, it's already been proven to be no more than a gas light.

If its a gas light then explain why it responds to sound and who proved this anyway and when was it proved?Yeah ,debunkers will give any excuse when they do not have another to give .Swamp gas seems to be the answer to everything .They will say anything to keep people from continuing to be curious.

You should go there to form your own opnion .I am quite surprised at your response I would think someone like you would think outside the box enough to form your own opnions to what many believe who have witnessed themselves to be spritual in nature.

65 love affair, Let me assure you that "Cropduster" is not part of our research team. I am sorry they mislead you into thinking they were responding for us.

As for Bighams Light, we are hoping to get there later this year. Our case manager has been working on this for quite some time. We hope to actually video tape the activity there.

Keep checking our web site ( www.peedeeparanormal.org ), we are working on some things right now so updates should not be far away.

No, I sure as Hell aint part of your research team.lol You're wasting your time with Bigham's light. If I were to do any researching in this area it would be the Screaming Mexican House off of hwy 151. Not quite sure where it's located but everybody say's when you drive up to it at night-time the lights light up. No power is hooked up to the house.

Cropduster, We are actually starting to do some work on SC Legends, especially those located in the Pee Dee area, so Bingham's Light would be a part of that research.

As for this so called "Screaming Mexican House" I personally think it does not exist. Everyone seems to know someone, who knows someone, who knows someone that has been there. BUT no one actually knows where it is located, just "off of Hwy 151." IF you know the actual address, please feel free to pass it on and we will be glad to contact the homeowners/landowners and see about getting permission to check it out.

I don't know anything else about that house. Have you ever been to that Church on Hwy. 527 about 3 miles north of hwy 378? I know alot of people go there to it's Graveyard just to take pictures and with voice recorders. You'll defeiently know it when you see it with the big pillars in front and the Graveyard in the back. Lot's of people say it's haunted but, I don't know. I think it's a Welsh Church? Maybe? Anyway's I hope this helps.

Back in 1984, me and my friends went there. What was it? Walk around it three times backward's and then pound on it? Really disrepectful.lol Then, we put our heads close to the tombstone to listen for sounds. Spooky looking place at night.

Hi Robert,
What's the deal with Sanders St? I haven't heard anything about that and I've lived in D'ton most of my life.

It's in Society Hill. Cross the bridge over the Great Pee Dee River on Hwy 15 about 2 miles north of town and it'll be on your left. There's only a small sign for it so, it's easy to miss.
