First of all this is kind of a long story but I need to give tell the back story.
At work I placed in a department for Labor Day weekend. I was a bit rusty but I picked it back up quickly.
The instruments were not great. I asked if it was ok if I could fix them" I was told "that would be great" but to make sure it was okay, I asked the store manager to make sure.
He said "it would be a liability issue if there was a mishap & the items could not leave the premises"
So I brought a tool (the same tool the store has but is worn out) & improved a few of them there.
The following morning I asked another shift employee "If he could tell a difference?" He said "Yes" I told him the story & asked him not to say anything, to see if the others noticed.
It was not an hour later and I was being asked by the dept assistant manager about what I had done.
I explained what I had done & everything seemed fine & they were happy about it.
Tonight, 5 days, 32 hours, the last 8 were grueling. The STORE assistant manager asked to speak with me. She asked me if I had taken them out of the store and what I had done to them. I explained in DETAIL. She then says, I was not allowed to "even use" the instruments, which are required to do the job & the store manager told her not to put me on next weeks schedule. If I wanted to discuss it with him, he would be there tomorrow. Least to say I have seen him every hour I have worked EXCEPT TODAY.
My question is:
I was told to do the job and had use the instruments. I asked & improved on them & did not damage them.
Plus, they had already ordered new ones that will be there shortly.
I did not knowingly or intentionally break or ignore any rules.
I am now virtually fired for doing my job with equipment it takes to do it & improving it, that was for everyone & the companies benefit.
I love my job.
Why am I fired & what should I do?
