The Newport Cardinals are not stealing money and then getting run out of anywhere. The Newport Cardinals are a member of Pop Warner Little Scholars, www.popwarner.com , we are transparent with our non profit account. We have our own EIN number from the IRS and our own tax exempt number from the Commonwealth of Kentucky. We are incorporated in Kentucky. The Newport Cardinals are a non profit 501c organization. No one in the Cardinals is stealing money or being run out of anything. Come to a meeting, Southgate VFW 6PM any Thursday of the month. I will be glad to explain it to you.

We will have home games here at local high schools and we will have away games where we have to meet in the middle for the more far away teams. All of these teams will come to Northern Kentucky to play a game, some of them want a second game at their field or half way. There are only five coaches per team. Those five coaches and five support members are the only people allowed on the field. Support members are the trainer, the manditory play monitor, the team mom, and two others if there is a need. Each team has one head coach, one assistant coach and then three regular coaches. Each one must have an AESOP coaching class certificate to participate. If you want to know a more detailed schedule you will have to wait.

I have heard that some of the coaching staff from NFF have carried over to the Cardinals...pop warner sounds like a great organization...curious to see how that meshes.

The Cardinals are a mixture of coaches and members from the NFF and new fresh faces. I don't know who was at Speedway but thank you for recruiting!! We are still signing up kids for Pop Warner, the best league in the nation. The lack of players at the high school level is not the fault of NFF or of the Cardinals; there are many factors when it comes to who will and can play high school sports. The Newport Cardinals are a Pop Warner team, this means our kids must keep a 2.0 grade point average, this means every kid on the team gets to be involved in at least ten plays per game(not including special teams), it means our kids must participate in community service. This program will produce strong, able student athletes who will be ready for high school sports. If Newport High School wants to keep them in Newport they need to invest in them now, come to a game. The football coach needs to come down and meet the coaches and the kids, let them know that Newport High wants them and is behind them.

Newport Wildcats football team

If anyone has a kid who wants to play football bring them down to Newport high school at the small baseball field at 6 pm today. I coach the 5,6-and 7 year olds. Could use some more kids. Get them out of the house and off the video games. Let's get these kids active again.

How many youth did NFF serve? Because that was supposed to have been all the kids from Newport that wanted to play. I am just curious to see if there is enough interested kids to field two successful teams. I know South Kenton has enough to do that but we are talking about an entire county with them---this is a single city. Don't get me wrong--i know it CAN be done and IS being done....I just think that these teams are fighting each other for one common goal ---the KIDS. At least I HOPE this is the case! It would seem that if the teams were unified, it would be much more successful!

cardinal truth

Everyone has an opinion and their version of the truth about the nkyfl, nff, Wildcats, an the cardinals. I feel being part of northern kentucky pop warner puts the kids involved with the cardinals on another level, the pop warner system is that good I've seen it for myself. Everything the cardinals do is always posted on FB there is no secrets we want everybody to see what our association is doing. Since the beginning we have made sure everybody knows where we will be every week an who is involved so if they have doubts or questions we are available for a face to face conversation. Now like I said in the beginning everybody has an opinion an their version of the truth but before you judge us or our coaches or doubt our intentions watch how our season goes. And for "just sayin" the cardinals are not fighting with the Wildcats or anybody else, we are focused on making this a great season for all the kids and everybody involved an supporting the Newport Cardinals. GO CARDS!!

1) If it is the Newport Cardinals why do you meet in Southgate?

2) I see a lot of the same people in the organization that were in the NFF...some of these were implicated in the scandal. Why are these people allowed to be in the organization if they were part of the ethical problems that occurred?

1) We meet in Southgate because the VFW has been kind and supportive since we created the Cardinals. They have been great supportors and are really the best people to work with. They offer a steak dinner every Thursday for $7.00, starts at 5PM.

2) The "scandal" as you call it was an internal issue between an organization and the NKYFL. If you weren't there for the blow by blow while it was happening then you don't really know what happened. Everyone has a version of what they heard and what they think was going on but the reality is the Newport Firefighters resigned their member status with the NKYFL due to irreconcilable differences of opinion as to how the Newport children would be treated. The Newport Firefighters went their own way. Some of the people who coached for Newport Firefighters have been picked up by the Newport Cardinals. These people are good coaches, and we believe they have something to give to the children in our program.

The second part of this answer addresses the ethical problems that occured. The ethical issues of the "scandal" were not one sided nor only committed by Newport staff. All of the perpetrators of the GRAND SCHEME are still running their respective teams and pushing their own agendas. Why would the Newport Coaches have to give up their community service. Pop Warner has faith in the Cardinals, and the Cardinals have faith in our staff.
