Teachers and staff do not like him either. They see through his PR. No different than Brandt.

Sorry! I work there. Even when I see him, he won't talk to me, even if I speak first. I am nothing to him. I also have 2 kids in Newport schools.
He's going to have to at least speak to us, if he wants our support.
I contacted him about one of my kids. Didn't even get an answer.
He is here for the $.
Don't feel bad, he doesn't acknowledge the teachers either. He will walk into a classroom and not even say hello. There's no change just empty ideas and people with ulterior motives. I hate to say it but Newport deserves what they get from him. It's just too bad the children, teachers and families will suffer the most, not the administration!

Good for you that he solved your issue. You are in the 1%, what about the 99% that he ignores? He had to help one so he can include it in his year end results I guess.

He has strong leadership skills, I've personally witnessed him lead his peers during difficult times. All the slander and libel posted here is just sad, only a few see the actual hard work he puts in behind the scenes. Only a select few see what he really does because he doesn't advertise his contributions like most do. He likes to work hard behind the scenes and give credit to others, he doesn't want the credit---he just wants what's best for Newport. When he's not in office, where do u think he is? He's out in the community, that's where! Serving the taxpayers! He is a true public servant, and you all should be counting your blessings that he's here! I implore all fair-minded residents to call his office and thank him personally, I'd hate for a bigger city to pluck him from us

OMG I hope this is a joke! He publishes twitter pics constantly, now your saying he is working hard behind the scenes for no credit! He is constantly advertising his work, this is too funny! A bigger city wouldn't pay him what he gets in small Newport, I can't stop laughing. Thanks for bringing humor into my night!

Hi Kim! When does he give credit to others? Why won't he speak to employees?

We know where he is! Loved those pics of you playing in the water in Louisville.
So professional of both of you.

He may be a hard worker. If he acts like employees are invisible, they won't like him.

The people making the comments about his good leadership skills have to be trolls who are trying to arouse the people. Middleton has caused so much heartache and pain on so many people that anyone who knows him could not make a statement to his abilities. If he was a leader, he would come forward to his past employers, the citizens of Mason county and his current employers the citizens of Newport, and he would explain first, his spending habits as divulged in the state audit and second, how he plans on making amends and returning trust to the school district that he almost destroyed with reckless behavior. It can not be forgotten that HE was the financial officer of Mason county when literally tens and tens of thousands of dollars were misspent and are still unaccounted.

"I taught in the Mason County School System for over thirty years and saw first hand the methodology of Mr. Middleton and Ms. Petit. I have not read this book, but I am sure it is filled with wonderful ideas and practices. I just wish this was the reality of those of us who taught under this regime. Today, Mason County schools have a growing scandal. Mr. Middleton has left, some say to try and get out before the auditors report became public. The current superintendent has resigned under extreme pressure, and all, including Ms. Petit are being investigated for rampant misuse of county money for their own pleasure and profit. Should you decide to buy this book, you might ask Mr. Middleton (Newport Independent School District, Newport, Kentucky) and Ms. Petit (Mason County School System, Kentucky) if they would kindly send their profits to Mason County to pay back just a little bit of the debt they owe." The book centers around the idea of customer service and how important it is to treat all members of the school community with respect.

Fact 1. Newport students are not your customers, they are students.

It's not just about data points. What changes their paths isnít a formula or a grueling push for a better profile or a better Facebook post. Itís a connection, a context, a caring that changes their paths. That connection is made in the classroom.

If you put your ego down a minute, you might understand that.

I've obviously wasted my time here. I was trying to bring fairness to a good man's reputation and I'm called a moron, Kim, a joke, even a troll. How can I expect honesty when everyone is now dishonest about ME, for just defending someone I believe in! How quickly the wolves devour their prey, you all should be proud. Humiliate a man who serves his community showing up at a tree lighting display, then humiliate anyone who defends them. No wonder this city is in such bad decline. I stand by my comments, I've seen his dedication and grit for this city. I honestly believe that it's only a vocal minority of political enemies who stand against him, voicing anger out of career jealousy. I and many, many others support and appreciate everything he's doing for the kids. Happy Holidays to everyone, even the narrow-minded reputation assassins. Try to let go of the negativity and put down your shovels, he inherited a mess and doesn't need detractors digging the hole deeper! Take care all

Dear sad Geez...no one is going to " pluck" him away. He was the financial officer in a district that was audited by the state and the results were damning. Every school district but Newport would not touch him as his future as an educator is uncertain. He will probably not lose his credentials but he will be forced to repay some of his extravagant spending. He and another administrator have left a district that now has lost the trust of the people. This moral dilemma has caused additional stress on a system already troubled. Defend him as you please, but there are 10 to every 1 of you who feel strongly that he should return to Mason County, explain his spending habits, repay his enormous ill gotten gain, then he can leave knowing he did what a true leader would have done. No, no one will take your prized possession, as he is currently morally, ethically and administratively bankrupt.

Stop trying to defend a highly unethical person. Clearly he was directly involved in the Mason abuses. IMHO he should be charged criminally. He will never have my respect. The Newport board blew it big time with this guy.

He was paid, enormously, to attend the tree lighting ceremony. Salary!

Why are you defending him? What has he done? His actions at Mason Co should not be defended. What he did was wrong.

Education is a business. A lot of the teachers love and care about your kids almost as much as their own, but above the teachers there are money hungry pr junkies, beyond the classroom and other staff that work directly with the students, the focus is about power, control, bottom line, baby kissing, back pattin, getting rich picture taking... sick. Thank God teachers care.
