I'd say you got your money's worth if it lasted 20 years. A crown can last indefinitely or not. Why does it needreplacing? Where the tooth meets the crown can still decay causing the crown to be replaced. That's not his fault. The crown can wear down just like normal teeth can. Not his fault either if you grind your teeth or chew on ice or gnaw bones.

I recently went to see Dr. Spatz to have a cavity removed. He was a little brusque, but his assistant was very kind. I would have appreciated a warning before he stuck the needle in my mouth, but he did it enough times that I didn't have any pain when he started pulling the tooth out. He seemed like a nice person to me, but as I said, a little brusque. I was disappointed that I didn't get a prescription for antibiotics and some vicodin (which I have had dentists prescribe me every time I have had a tooth pulled and it has worked wonders for the pain and infection) but I know that there is a huge pain pill problem in kentucky so I didn't make a huge issue of it when he wrote me a naproxin prescription. I wanted to see if it would work, unfortunately it did not and I was in agony as soon as the novacaine started wearing off. Along with stomach pain and diarhea. I was supposed to take the naproxin with food, but as I couldn't eat very well, maybe thats why I have such bad stomach problems.(I kept chewing on my lip when I tried and lacerating it.) Still am in pain, as my surgery was yesterday. I do appreciate my tooth being removed, at least when it heals I wont be in pain from that. And, I guess because he has lost his authorization to write prescriptions for narcotic substances that I will not be getting a vicodin prescription. Maybe he can still write me a script for antibiotics however which should help keep away any infection while it heals.

Note: On the subject of pain pills, one is not an addict if one is in pain from a legitimate surgery or has physical problems that can be helped with no other remedies. And, getting a tooth pulled out of your mouth is very legitimate. Any drug is legitimate for the right condition and it is not very kind or compassionate to lump everyone who uses pain pills into an addict category. Some people can and do abuse pain pills but that doesn't mean they are useless human beings, it means they are in pain and need help. It is a horrible lifestyle that some are trapped into. Being poor and needing welfare assistance is also not a crime, or a sign that you are not a good citizen. It means you are going through a tough time and need some help. And, again, some people do abuse this system, but that doesn't mean that a lot of people who do use and need welfare from time to time are less than you. The welfare system definitely needs reformation, but the reason it is there is because we care about each other, which is a wonderful thing. It can be hard to understand and have compassion if you have never had to go through hardship of that sort, but life has way of educating even the most stubborn of us. I wish all of you a blessed day and better luck in the future with your dentistry.=)

Have to say that my I am going to have to agree with most people here and say STAY AWAY. I have emailed and called begging for an antibiotic prescription and NO ANSWER.

Guess he is just a brute and will maim you, take your money, then send you away without adequate medical care.

I have been taking massive amounts of ibuprofen, acetaminophen, and aspirin to dull the pain. Eating lots of garlic and taking essential oils to hopefully cut the infection.

NOTE: There is a troll on this thread list that wants to insist everyone who has a legitimate need for pain killers is an addict. And, a so called dental-assistant who is doing more harm to Dr. Spatz business than he does by hurting people. Some people get a kick out of seeing how they can make people squirm or how mad they can get them. It just shows a lack of maturity and empathy on their part and a lot of boredom. I can't imagine anyone who is really in the medical field on any level acting like that. And, possibly they have their own problems which they are transferring to others. Ignore them because they want you to get upset, and they don't have anything better to do. And, avoid this Dentist, run, run, and run.

I had an awful experience with Dr. Wallace a dentist in Walton Ky I had about $3,000 worth of work done that lasted for 1 week and it seemed like my whole mouth fell apart. I went to Dr. Spatz office because he is an Emergency Dentist and a General Dentist anyway he really helped me out along with his staff. They went out of their way to fix a big big mistake made by another dentist. Granted I had to pay but the price was very reasonable and he was willing to work with me I didnt have to have all the money up front. I paid 1/2 down and then made payments over a 2 week period. I cannot believe all the negative things people are saying on here. I think no matter what you do you cannot please everyone all the time. I dont think Dr. Spatz is a bad dentist and I think he has a absolute wonderful staff the young lady made sure I understood everything that was going on and what I did not understand they made sure to spend time explaining until I did understand my treatment. The 1st Dr I went to Dr. Wallace did not do that nor did his staff. I would just like to say to other people reading these awful nasty post to consider this: Some people are just rude and cannot be pleased no matter what you do and people experience things differently what can be outrageous to you could be nothing to someone else so dont judge Dr. Spatz by what these people are saying he is a very nice man and he does not rip anyone off he even gave me a discount because I was ripped off by Dr. Wallace.

My wife and I have been going to Dr. Spatz for about 7 years now he use to practice at Affordable Dentures on Hwy 42 in Florence and when he left we followed. Dr. Spatz is a very nice man he looks out for his patients and gives discounts whenever he can. I am not sure why these people feel like they have to blast Dr. Spatz but he is a good man and he does great dentistry he is a perfectionist and wants his patients to walk away happy with a beautiful smile they can be proud of. He does not do botch work or sloppy work he also has the best dental lab in town his lab guy makes dentures like no one I've ever seen the dentures look real not fake. This guy is in my opinion the best dentist in the Tri-State area.

What a joke! 505.00 for a crown that lasted 20 hrs! When I called they said he was too busy to fit me in. I protested and they hung up on me and wouldn't answer phone. I went to office ghost town. Not member of ADA or BBB. Do not let this so called dentist touch you!
Your from Brooklyn New York and you come all the way to Ky for your dental needs? Wow! Well if you would've called around you would've heard from other dentist offices that a crown usually runs about $800 and up so really you got a deal. Not to mention the fact that did you ever think it was your fault the crown came off? Sometimes a crown can come off from moisture getting under it, if you chew gum, if you eat ice cream or drink coffee (Hot/Cold) can also make it come off within the 1st 24 hours of having a crown put on you have to baby it so it can set up. I have 3 crowns Dr. Spatz has done I only had problems with 1 and never once looked at Dr. Spatz and said your a bad dentist because my crown fell off, things happen. If its such a ghost town why did you go there to begin with? and just because a dentist does not belong to the BBB or the ADA does not mean he is not a good dentist. HE IS AN EXCELLENT DENTIST IN MY OPINION!!

Very rough never spoke, didn't warn about the shot. Laid instruments on my chest, had blood all over my face his assistant tried cleaning it up (not just around mouth it was on my eyes, forehead, cheeks) I have never had this happen before. Never spoke.to me during or after he pulled my tooth. I was in so much pain when he was trying to pull it I was whimpering he never asked me anything. His assistant seemed scared to death to talk to me . After doc left room I asked her was the tooth out she just nodded her head yes. I have stitches that need removed scared to go have that done.

Went to Dr Spatz a while ago and commented on here already. Having read everything here by the dental ass(istant) I am not shocked. When I tell people my story, I start by saying that I was "dentally abused". It was like a scary movie scene.

My bond came off yesterday and I was frantically searching for a dentist to fix it in fear of having another nightmare-ish experience like I did with Spatz. One office I called mentioned she'd heard of a place open on wknds in Florence. As I had flashbacks of my visit there I told her I'd rather wait until Monday (and look like a hillbilly, much like this dental assistant that is clearly insane) and hide out over the wknd with my chipped tooth. Now, when I do go in to my new dentist, I will be sure that theyNEVER suggest anyone goes there in the future. The fact that I went to those bastards years ago and will still do everything in my power to ensure this business fails should speak volumes to anyone reading this.
