Cap-and-trade' bill could be costly for Kansas cities

A proposed a oecap-and-tradea bill at the federal level could cost local consumers hundreds of dollars per year, Kansas Municipal Utilities Executive Director Colin Hansen said Friday.

Colin Hansen isn't correct that cap and trade would transfer wealth to the coasts. East coast burns more coal. Kansas has much better wind potential and is much closer to gas supplies. Cap and trade could make it attractive to industry to relocate to Kansas for abundant wind. Solution is simple: don't build any more coal plants and start producing the electricity from clean sources abundant in Kansas.

The cap and trade energy tax will take money out of everyone's pocket in every state.

Only insiders like Al Gore and the Wall St bankers will make money.

And the jobs will not be moving to Kansas.

They'll be going to China instead.

Exactly. Cap and Trade will benefit the globalist elite, and those manufacturing jobs will go overseas. Our electric energy bills will spiral up to 90% by 2035 if this bill is enacted. Also, farming will be hard hit due to its implementation, resulting in drastic increases in food costs. The answer is clear to most Americans....vote NO Senators!!!

The key words there are "those manufacturing jobs will go overseas."

Libs don't seem to care much about traditional factory jobs.

But with the failed public education system graduation rate as little as 25% in some parts of the country factory jobs are their only hope of a decent income.

Provided the liberal welfare state has not made them too lazy to take those jobs.

It could be costly for the world....all to shift the wealth. I dont think that wealth will go to poor nations though. A tiny portion might....but the rich will get richer. Because it means that this country is headed for a complete meltdown.

Yes, it says Kansas is 3rd in US in wind energy potential. Cap & trade will force utilities and businesses wanting more electricity to develop non-polluting sources which are abundant in Kansas making Kansas better for business compared to East coast.

Colin Hansen is wrong about Cap & Trade benefiting the coasts more than Kansas, it's the opposite. Kansas is in better position for wind, solar, biomass and gas.

Kansas farmers are benefiting from requirements for biomass and could benefit more with better infrastructure for it.

If alternative energy is so great everyone would be rushing to do it already.
