So.........most of this jail time is alcohol related. Surprise.

I realize there is a lot of money to be made through liquor sales, but it really does not seem to offset the costs of maintaining these people in jail only to release them to buy more liquor.....and on and on.

With the huge drinking related issues in the area, SJC needs to wake up and go dry.

Leave it to a lefty to suggest more government restrictions curtailing liberty.

Eliminating freedom is what the modern left is all about!

Quit jailing people who get drunk and mind their own business, they are only hurting themselves and they have every right to do so. Put the rest on a chain gang building and maintaining infrastructure and cleaning up the area, so the government doesn't have to pay people to do it.

Why brand this fellow with leftish thinking, seems to me that a DRY COUNTY approch is a republican, religious extremist idea. Nothing to do with the hard work assoiciated with liberty.
When i here people whine about GIVE ME LIBERTY i want to remind them if you want some one to give you something for free, choose welfare, not liberty. Like George Bush said,workin-hard

Actually, the idea that Republicans in general want to restrict liberty is a fallacy. Democrats have been labeling Republicans as fascists for decades, all the while Democrats themselves have voted for, and passed, laws that regulate every industry, business, and individual. I'm not saying Republicans are blameless. There are plenty of Republicans Party members in office who hold statist views. But Republican IDEALS are ideals oriented towards freedom.

When Republicans act like "Democrats-Lite", they lose elections. It is when Republicans stand tall for Constitutional liberty that they win.

Look as history: The Republican north has/had few, if any, dry counties. It's the historically Democrat south that passed dry county laws, some which still stand.

You keep mentioning the quote "GIVE ME LIBERTY" in several forums..but do you know the rest? The complete quote is "GIVE ME LIBERTY, OR GIVE ME DEATH", and it was uttered by Patrick Henry in a speech favoring armed resistance against tyranny. There is nothing free about armed resistance. Here it is, in context:

Correction, "cherry picked liberties". The Reps pick the so called Liberties they want and neglect the rest.

McCain and Romney didn't win for NOT acting like "Democrats-Lite".

Henry was also against the constitution and died of stomach cancer. Many men, since Henry "uttered' those words, and did die for our "LIBERTY". The liberties as shown in our constitution and laws of the land. You know, for what you call "the nanny state".

I neglected to mention that Henry valued LIBERTY so much that he owned slaves. Seems like he cherry picked his LIBERTY just like you do, con man; just like you do.

Uninformed and ignorant liberals such as yourself do not define the conservative/libertarian ideology.

McCain did indeed lose by acting like a Democrat-Lite. Ever live in Arizona? I have. Every study McCain's political history? I have. I voted for McCain as the lesser of two evils over Obama.

Romney, on the other hand, is an honorable man who refused to lie, cheat, or steal the election. Obama, on the other hand, has no such moral standing. Obama won again, by a slim margin, precisely because he lied, cheated, AND stole the election, and the public bought it.

Oh, and thanks for that list of dry states...irrelevant as it is. Got any from this century?

No?
