If he doesn't think it's important to attend then just replace him with someone who will appreciate the opportunity to represent the city. Obviously he doesn't.

I think there is another councilor that should be voted out that is Pat Lucero. He was trouble maker in school.

Pennington only attends meeting after he checks the agenda. It is obvious he got on board to protect and advance his business interests. Not a crime. Every other business man does the same if and when the opportunity arises. Farmington Mayor Roberts did(does) the same thing. Rep. Taylor did it for years. BLM Mgr. Henke feathered his nest while being paid as a civil servent. Just American politics and business as usual. If you don't like it don't vote for known business people when they run for elected positions. Don't criticize the Navajos about their politics, they have good teachers to look to.

Jerry Clayton also comes to mind. When he got elected all his thrift ways got liquor licenses.

It doesn't work that way, and if you knew anything you would know that. So why make a comment about something you don't know anything about?

Hmmm... when a council member does not show up some people want more participation and they are ready to get rid of the official...that may be the right thing to do, but when an official actually show up for the meeting and and speak their mind (Pat) you call him a trouble maker. I respect city officials that speak their mind even if it is not the popular vote.

Yuppers, and the list could go on and on. Congressman DeConcini and his family bought up all the land where the SRP canals would go through. Today, they are very rich and could care less about "serving" the people. Former Governor Tom Bolack was in office as a fluke for a few short months. He acquired water rights(and land) to all the once barron land surrounding his original B Square ranch.

Note: Jerry Clayton lost his Reservation leases once he got too big for his britches and stopped paying under the table kickbacks to the "officials" in Window Rock. He proclaimed, "you can't kick me out". They give him a 24-hour notice to vacate the Reservation. He left with the shirt on his back. He learned a valuable lesson, You have to pay to play in American Economics. This is the unspoken truth about success and failure. Many poor families got rich during prohibition. Many poor families are getting rich today off of prohibited drug sales and distribution. In order to do business, they pay protection $ to politicians and the legal system. Only nieve common citizens want to illegal drug trade to end. If drugs were legalized, the party would end for many. Farmington is home to illegal Mexican drug runners that made enough $ to start up legitimate business.

The best and brightest lawyers, founding fathers and military leaders were known as "trouble makers" in school. People with nothing to say, keep quiet, and rightfully so. Maybe you should pay heed.

Pat - He needs to get a job. Not that he has done anything wrong. But personally to understand citizens better it's easier when you share that understanding. Although not being mean I guess he can relate to many stay at home moms and dads.

Matt Pennington - I think he needs to be in attendance. At least not missing that many. Do it through speakerphone at least. They have phones capable of that for a reason.

I prefer him there more then having another Volunteer Firefighter on the council. I can see a 3 Volunteer Firefighter majority next election season. Right now 2 on there is scary enough. Lets just hope we can stave it off longer.

Let Pennington's constituents be the voice here, not another council member. If those in his district have a problem with it then they can vote him out next time, however, when another council person raises the issue then it comes across as childish politics. Instead of criticizing ones attendance when there is no rule, show with specific examples how his lack of attendance as had a negative impact on the business at hand.

Well what I do know is that he put his personal business first instead of the job that he was elected to do by the voters of Bloomfield. Again, if he doesn't want to serve 100% then he should go and you go with him for being a sympathizer.

Since it is not a 100% job one should not expect 100% of his time.

Mr. Lucero has a job and has been working since June. In fact, for as long as I have known him, he has worked up to his recent lay-off from western. I've never known him to be a trouble maker and for those that say he is or was is mistaken.

So you think that when you are elected to a governmental position that you shouldn't be expected to serve in a total capacity or give your all to the citizens who elected you ??? Hopefully you never get elected to any position. If you can't participate DON"T run !!!

Why then won't you share, he has no criminal record, he has been a servant to Bloomfield his whole life. I've seen many instances where he has helped many people both on and off the department.
