Anybody know what is going on with the "no slum lords" signs that I have seen on several properties throughout the city lately?
Yep

John Reid has had enough of the folk who are not keeping up the exterior of their properties.

He bought some signs, and has handed dozens of them out to supporters.

He knows the city has great codes in place to correct the issue, but these same landlords that he and the city-dwellers despise are the very same ones that the Mayor sold his soul to.

That good enough for you?

Yes, thank you.

Who is John Reid? And who are these Frankfort Slum Lords?

I don't think the Mayor has sold his soul to any of the slum lords...Idiot

The slum lords are DON RAPP aka DonMar enterprises, aka RAPP RENTALS aka who knows. He is a HUGE offender. Hasn't paid property taxes on most of his rentals for several years. THis can be verified by going to www.clintonco.com . On the right side of the page it says Check on my property. You can enter any street address in clinton county and see the owner and tax status.

The Waggoners are also slum lords. They like to threaten people who are renting from them.

There is also a "minister" who owns several rentals that are in bad condition. Don't remember his name.

Don't call anyone an idiot if you don't know of his and tom ransom's meetings with the landlords at Kramers.

I was there and now have no desire to be with the Clinton County Renters Associations. The Mayor was there, so you can apologize to me anytime you're ready.

My most sincere apologies. Maybe Kramer's is going to give them a great deal..LOL Was this an advertised meeting? Who all was there? Please fill us in on the details about what was discussed and what action the city officials said they were going to take.

I doubt the signs are going to stop. Citizens of the county were able to get the Beard paving project stopped. Seems like we should all be contacting John Reid to buy some signs from him and push the city to get rid of these slum lords. They are not providing a good service for the city or county when they fail to pay their taxes and keep their properties in deplorable condition. There are many other landlords that keep their places nice and pay their taxes. Why do we need to cater to those that don't?

John Reid is the one who owns Pioneer Restorations and lives in Stony Heights. My question is: what is the goal from having these signs? I agree with the sentiment behind them, but I'm not sure what they are accomplishing??(I'm not being a typical naysaying troll, I really want to know this answer).

They obviously are making the slum lords uncomfortable. They are showing up at city council meetings now and according to "taxpayers Unite" they are having meetings with the Mayor and Tom Ransom. Must be starting to get under someones' skin. It also appears that it is making city officials aware that the tax paying citizens in the city want something done. The town will never improve it slum lords are allowed to neglect their properties and not pay property taxes all they while they collect rents. If they can't make a living in their business and pay their taxes, keep up the properties, they are in the wrong business and should LEAVE!

The signs are a way to let the Mayor and the building inspector, and the slumlords, know that we are uniting together to save our neighborhoods. We are tired of living next to or close to a "eyesore" of a home. I don't care who you are, you don't deserve to live like a rat in the sewer. Unfortunatly the slumlords take on this is that they are rats and do deserve to live like this. Then they pocket all the $ and don't pay their taxes and don't fix any of the deplorable conditions. Mold, roaches, broken windows, the list goes on and on. I have a sign in my yard and fortunatly I don't have this problem in my neighborhood. I also want to make sure I don't in the future as well. We must stop the vicious circle of slumlords trading properties around to avoid paying taxes. But that's a whole other can of worms.

Oh and by the way, The Mayor and the slumlord HATE the signs, so I guess they are working. We need a sign in every yard!

The minister would be M&D Associates/rentals!

Check out Waggoners properties near Kramers. The big brick building that looks like a crack house!!

I am a illegal Mexican living in Frankfort, and I live in a weed and bug infested property near you (Punjab). My slum lord is a nice fellow and he lets me live there for next to nothing. Punjab, please mow your yard so that your property looks good, so my illegal friends will want to move in.
You live by the gulf course too?

The mayor and other city officials are mad about the signs because it doesn't look good to the Ivy Tech people coming to Frankfort. They don't want them driving into town and seeing all of these No Slum Lord signs. But they are fine with the Slum Lords doing what their doing.

Well think how much happier the voters would be if they started getting the 200k plus of back taxes from Daddy Don and Billy the son???

If he wants the damn signs down, then turn loose Sambo with writing these landlords up and drag their sorry a$$es into court?

I know the answer to that. The meeting at Kramers before the election with the. C.C. Renters Association. Couple that with another "good christian's" contributions from his tenants and you have a boy who pledged his soul.

You'd think the mayor would embrace the signs as it shows initiative by his citizens. You'd also think someone would put a few up at old Stoney. Maybe the slum lords that own the properties directly to the east would be forced to do something.
