any news on Plastcoat ?
I heard Plastcoat is dying a slow death, bit by bit... Just a matter of time. There is no money unless you PAINT the plastic. Polycon is quite prosperous and feed them table scraps every once in awhile. Nonetheless a slow death like stabbing an elephant with a spoon...

We at Lexamar are curious as to why mangement hasn't told us at our monthly employee meetings, as to why they never state we have made a profit or loss. We are amazed thus far! If this tactical ploy by the management to not frustrate people too much! It's working! Moral has improved in the past few months.
Not mentioning profit and loss tells me a few things...

1. Lexamar as a whole is not making enough profit to mention if any.
2. Management does not want to be questioned as to why Lexamar is not turning a profit.
3. Management does not want to be questioned about their projected profit and loss for the foreseeable future (trust me, its on someone's desk somewhere).
3. Morale has to be kept up for now as happy people don't rock the boat or ask questions.
4. Lexamar is not completely off the Magna chopping block yet. If the new launches fail and/or if Lexamar isn't turning a decent profit during the next 12 to 18 months update your resume.

I have heard that Williamsburg Mfg is going to stay open now. The manager that run them down is now at Kamtec. Williamsburg is now turning a profit. Look out Kamtec. his name is Rick Gibson. He shut down Benco in Belle Plaine Iowa too.

Magna bought our Dura Automotive plant in Gordonsville,TN. Thay gave us 60 days notice as soon as the deal went through and they are moving half to Canada and half to Mexico !!! Now we are training Magna people to do our jobs and helping them put it on trucks to be hauled out. We were a non union successful plant and now we're gone!!
so, NO !! I do not think Magna buying your plant is a good thing !!!
I am from Detroit, left Mi. a long time ago. I often thought as a young man, how much longer can these unions bleed the companies before they go belly up. Well now we know! I don't blame them for moving to Mexico. The people of Mi. are the biggest whiners I have ever met!

Welcome to the wonderful world of Magna.
Magna is like a wolf in sheeps clothing. They tout their "coroporate consitution" and all that crap but when the chips are down they want profit; no loyalty from them to their employees.
This is a hard environment for the worker right now as business has no loyalty whatsoever to their employees. The businesses want everything including commitment and blood from their employees but will toss you to the curb the first time things get tight because of THEIR bad business decisions.
Magna excels at brainwashing thier employees with implied fair treatment and security but at the end of the day THEIR profit is the only thing they are sincerely loyal to. So before you embrace Magna's or anyone elses business partnership remember this; when times get tight loyalty and compassion are a thing of the past.
So you thought they were in business to supply you with a job? How screwed up is your thinking my freind. Let me help you to understand. They are in business to make M_O_N_E_Y! Your job fills there needs,. not the other way around! The alternative is communism, but you might want to ask the people of the old Soviet Union how that worked out for them.

I wouldn't give the car companies a dime. They are where they are by folding to the greedy unions. The ones who confiscate worker's money to give to the commies. They demand more money and less work and quality. Why pay someone 6 figures for putting on the same damned lug nut all day. That is SUB minimum wage. Because of that we produce plastic CRAP that breaks after 2 miles and we don't honor the warranty. I will NEVER buy an American car ever again. I tried for years and got tired of the lemons and dishonored warranties. I do NOT have that problem with German cars. I make sure they are made 100% outside of the USA. I do not buy repair parts made in the USA. I look for union labels just to make sure I DO NOT buy them. Let the unions die, they are responsible along with the commies for the economy with their false controls on a free market. Let the car companies go tits up in the ditch. Besides, I am sure obammy and his commie friends will pay EVERYONE's mortgage, healthcare, and all those other things he promised.
So you prefer German Built Vedhicles but hate the UAW and yet the German Autoworkers Union is probably the strongest in the world.
You should really get a life.

I was laid off from Plastcoat in Brampton in December 2008 due to the recession that badly affected the automotive industry. I have yet to find a permanent full time job. I've work through the agencies at minimum wage pay. All of you who are still employed by Magna thank God that you still have a job, because you don't know what it's like to be out of one or earning well below what you use to earn. So stop wining and complaining, because you'll never know when your job is taken from you.

"Stop whining and complaining"...exactly what the slaves were told in the USA prior to emancipation...and the coal miners worked to death underground...and the pre-teens worked 14 hours per day in turn of the century sweat shops...

Ya, stop whining and complaining folks. Just like Magna and everyone else that may want to exploit you or work you to death. It could be a lot worse right?

I worked for Plastech, same thing happened to us we made parts for the auto and we always made parts for briggs and stratton. johnston controls bought us and then took all of our work to china.. A month before they closed down they said keep your heads up and keep doing the best job you can, uhh why would anyone ever do that.. and we are not whiners, we lost everything we ever knew.. My dad worked for GM for 34 years and lost everything he had... Why would anyone be happy about that.

LexaMar has found the secret to profitability; lower wages and benefits.

Of 450 persons working at LexaMar 225 are temps. The temps make $10.00 per hour and need to work as a temp for 2 years before they are hired (if they are not terminated on the 364'th day of their second year of temping).

Lower wages, no bennies and open borders thanks to NAFTA and corporate-government partnership; the dream of the mega-corporations has come to fruition.

The employees that worked there from Ontegra, Plydex, Rollstamp and Rimply were and are all very good people. If they left, I'm sure it was for there own reasons. The firings of some management were somewhat unjustified, and some management left to other Magna division on their own accord, don't forget. Nonetheless I'm glad to hear that Plastcoat is doing well, that is good news in these times!!
