I heard The Mayor & Council are attempting to shut down The Fletcher Police Deapartment. I heard they are cutting off their funding. What is this all about ?

It's been a long time coming. They are just following the pattern of Miami County. Most of the other villages disbanded their police departments. Remember Bradford just recently did the same thing.

If the residents in Fletcher wanted a police department, they would have voted for the levy. Guess they have spoken.

old wise one....that comment is not totally true. When this was voted on and I went to vote, I was asked if I lived in Brown Township...my answer was yes.. so the card the gave me did NOT have the police levy on it. I asked about it before I cast my ballot (with a huge line behind me staring at me)The poll worker said," Well ma'am, you said you lived in Brown township. You needed the Fletcher card." I told her I was only asked if I lived in Brown Township and Fletcher was never mentioned.(Fletcher is in Brown Township..so yes, I live in Brown Township) They couldn't cancel my ballot (so they said) or give me a card with the Fletcher levies on it. I also asked if I could vote for the police levy on paper ballot somehow...the answer was no...if this happened to me, I wonder how many other people this was done to. I for one think we need our locoal PD.
