First of all ... Who ever is tryin to live vicariously through me STOP! Ken Bott is a phoney and is not the owner of Uptown Seafood as he stated on Restaurant road trip on Wboy. He talked about fresh fish getting darker eyes as they get older and after heads are cut off people call them fresh again. I call bullshit! He has never got a fish in there that actually even had a head! The freshest fish we got was already cleaned and frozen. Thanks to wendlings and US foods. James is the manger. I have no idea if Ken is Wanted by the IRS but would not be surprised. He does smoke in the kitchen, but does not get his crab cakes from krogers. They are made there, I know this because I've had to help him make them even though he was trying to pay me waitress wages while I was doing prep work. Thank God for my brother who had my back and got my money. Unfortunately this is not the only bad restaurant in Clarksburg. Clarksburg Diner is a joke too actually owned by Louie Zall. Aka.. Slum lord and Food truck guy. Serving frozen food from local food distributors and sams sayin its fresh and homemade. Lmao Oh and btw Im guessing the only good thing he probably has on the menu is the Italian sausage sandwich that he stole from me and tried to sadly duplicate. Your welcome Louie.

Dang someone was telling me all about how this place was legit. The food was so fresh. Hell wboy even did a story on it. Boy was I in for an awaking. The place is filthy and all the people looklookike they just crawled out of bed and forgot to brush they're teeth. The owner was the absolute worst offender. Ugghhh!!! One guy came out of the kitchen and he looked like he was allergic to water. Scabs all over him very ashy and scaley. When he went back in I walked over to peer in to actually see if he was handling food and not hust cutting through the kitchen to head back to the alley. There was a young man cooking between his lips is a lit cigarette! Wtf!!!! I went total ape sh!@ and told the owner. Then he took me in the back where the bar is and tried to offer my meal for free if I kept quiet. R u serious??? My wife and I left that instant. I will definitely be at the health dept in the a.m. letting them know what kind of "fine dining" is going on down 4th street. If you value your health and body stay away from here.

Try the Coaches Crabshack on Collins Ferry in Morgantown. After 3 tries at upcheck seafood, I found Coaches to offer a very solid shellfish / seafood dinner. Great bar, great service, ask for Jada on weekends, she is from Clarksburg.

Ate there last Friday and the crab legs where better than any I have ever had in WV. They where huge crab legs. That alone will bring me back.

My wife and I ate there tonight with a friend. We all had the seafood buffet. Everyone was very nice and the food was really good. There was not one thing there I tried and did not like. It was clean and obviously wasn't smoked in. I asked about all these rumors and they are aware and wish they would stop. I won't post why they said the rumors are here, because that would be spreading more rumors! Go eat there and ask yourself!

Here is an honest review.

They kept bringing out food, and it was hot and fresh. They had many different types of shrimp. My wife and I don't like a lot of fried food, so we were happy to see lots of grilled options. The BBQ shrimp is simple but delicious. We all laughed and thought we'd hate it. I had 4 helpings.(burp) Coconut shrimp was great, too!

My wife LOVES fried oysters, though. It's one thing she'll eat all day. She loved them there. My friend had several of the raw oysters.

Crab cakes were DELICIOUS but had hardly any crab. They said they have a new cook working on those and promised that won't always be the case. On the flip-side the deviled crabs had lots of crab and they were amazing. I hope they fix the crab cakes next time!

They had scallops, soft shell crab, fried pollack and grilled panguiense (don't ask me to spell that) and it was all good.

Crab legs were GREAT. Really big and lots of old bay. They have nice quality crackers. I saw a lady didn't get some crab when they brought a batch up (it was all taken by us piggy men) and I offered her some of mine before I touched it. Turns out they saw her not get some and brought her a serving from the kitchen. They are really nice. The only issue with them is some pieces the meat stuck to the shell pretty badly. This may be that they are overcooked. They were not soggy so I assume they are steamed and not boiled. Next time I will ask!

NOTE: All food is well seasoned! Nothing is bland.

Two criticisms:

They bring out food in small portions. This keeps costs down but sometimes you have to wait for more food.

If food has been out for a while it gets a bit cold. That's no good! They need to keep the heat up on the hot items.

I wish them the best and we will be back. All my expectations were vastly exceeded.

So guys, please knock off the rumors here. They're nice people trying to make a living. If you are mad at the owner then badmouth the owner but don't hurt the nice waiter and waitress who were there being attentive. I really do urge everyone to give this place a try.

Oh, and the food was all VERY fresh. The waiter says they get 3 or 4 shipments in per week. Seriously guys it's easy to tell when seafood is fresh. You can't hide suspicious seafood. They didn't have anything to hide!

Oh, get some desserts on the buffet guys!
