What a charade this is! You can't honestly tell me that there aren't more people involved in this circus. They threw an election, so to speak - and that takes a whole hell of a lot of people to pull off. The City Manager and City Council members weren't involved? I find that awfully hard to believe. And also interesting that Zeke Lopez still has a job? Haven't we had enough of this crap for too many years? Scary to think what's next if there aren't changes made soon!
are there more to come

"Howe also announced the resignation of Lt. Tim Smith, which is effective Tuesday. Howe stated in the press release that "he was confident that the Department would be moving forward in a positive direction.""

"U.S. Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, said in a press conference Tuesday that the resignation of Clarksburg Police Chief Marshall Goff and Lt. Tim Smith came as a way to avoid federal charges, stemming from the investigation and charges facing Clarksburg Councilman Sam "Zeke" Lopez."

I'm honestly not too happy right now. I respect Marshall Goff as a person, a police officer, and respect the fact he became chief of police. I believe whatever "controversy" that went on does not reflect bad on him as a person. Marshall Goff did his job, and he did it well with the respect of the clarksburg community. He listened. He understood, and he was always fair in my opinion. Yes, I do believe sometimes it's all about who you know in this town, but I know Marshall as a person. He is a good person. His work ethic was incredible, and if it wasn't for him, we would probably still see bath salts sold without the care of our local police officers. He did a very good job in cleaning up this town, working with the drug task force, and approaching the actions in the best way possible. I as a member of this community, am terribly saddened by the news, but I DO KNOW that what we had in this town (police officers) worked very hard under former Chief of Police, Marshall Goff, in a very professional, respectful, and honoring manor as a reflection of what their "boss" taught them. Knowledge is limitless. I hope Marshall knows he has many supporters out here that really appreciate the work he did for this community. So, I leave with this.. "It is not the critic who counts, nor the man who points out where the strong man stumbled, or where a doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man in the arena whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly, who errs, and who comes up short again and again, who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotions, and spends himself in a worthy cause. The man who at best knows the triumph of high achievement and who at worst, if he fails, fails while daring greatly, so that his place will never be with those cold timid souls who never knew victory or defeat."-Teddy Roosevelt.

Let me say this, Zeke did beat up on his wife, well documented, but she is bat shit crazy and has beat up on him for years. Retaliation isnt a crime. Its all because of HER that these men had to step down. Granted he should have left her, but p*ssy can be a powerful thing. I wouldnt have stayed around her for a minute if she did all the stuff to me that she did to Zeke. He isnt innocent, but played his part. He and council advised Chief Goff to sweep this under the rug, but they shouldnt have turned the other cheek, because now they pay for it with their career.

I Agree with you BST, it is hard to tell what other things they have covered up to protect their family or friends. Most of the people running Clarksburg are related, how do you think they all got their jobs at the Water Board, City of Clarksburg, Public offices, the list goes on and on....

What makes me sick is all of the well wishers saying "good job tim smith/marshall goff. Thanks for everything you've done and your service" Oh by the way, we don't care that you LIED aka TIMMED to federal investigators over something so simple like a domestic. Wouldn't it have been easier to just tell Smithers to call county p.d. and let them handle it. I'm ashamed to say that I work for Clarksburg P.D. How embarrassing this is, and Goff's main objective was to make us LOOK professional. This department is currently in shambles and I hope Robbie Hilliard can help out those of us that havent turned into sell outs. Best of luck to goff and smith, but I hate a liar aka a timmer.

I guess he shouldn't have lied to a federal investigator about councilman Lopez beating the crap out of his wife. He wasn't the only one involved in this cover up, Isn't that right Mr Shaffer.

Really, Martin Shaffer is involved as well. I sure hope that if liable statements are made on this forum that IP addresses are subpoena from providers and subscribers are forced to back-up what they claim. Too much slanderous activity not to be held to account

To begin with I believe that to be accurate it should be said that the lie told to feds had nothing to do with facts about domestic itself but had to do with Chief's and Lt's actions that night.

Yeah sure I bet the Feds are real concerned with the alleged domestic victim or domestic violence in general. This is, like everything, politically motivated. Don't be blind folks
