"A lot more Americans are feeling stressed out by debt this holiday season, raising the glum likelihood they'll behave like Scrooge rather than Santa." WHAT? Maybe they will be acting more like thinking rational people by NOT putting themselves into debt buying a bunch of crap that at 14% to 18% they will be paying for well into next year. I say, great, maybe its time to applaud smart choices and eschewing unbridled consumerism. And am i reading this correctly, that there is the subtle indication that people who spend more have less "debt stress". I'm thinking no brain, no headache!

I agree, increase in sanity, Shopping with discrimination rather than mindlessly hoovering up cheap imported crap woud be a massive improvement. Buying with cash rather than paying not 14-18% but 25-30% on it. There was an atricle in the paper where Citibank plans to raise the rated of it's best customers to 23.99% ofer the next 3 months. Those are the people who pay on time and have good credit. I figure most of the others will be following along. The person who wrote this seems to think it is a bad thing if we don't mindlessly go into debt, that we suffer massively if we spend money wisely. Sorry I will take any day my savings over some idiots debt any day and believe it or not. Less stress.
