Michelle Obama has nothing to do with our kids lunch. Please, please get an education. Also, our children should not be told at school that they only get a little to eat because of Michelle Obama, and this was told by the head cook at Ewing. Just do your job and serve our children.

Yeah my nephew said at the high school you do not get very much to eat.An ice scoop of mashed potatoes.I also heard they do not get a break either. When i was in high school we always got a break. We had big portions to.I think they should do that to Mrs Obama and see how she feels.

All of their "breaks" got them in the shape they are in now! They don't need a break!

don't blame Michelle Obama for the Fleming County school lunch problem. parents should provide for their children, they are not the government's children. free or reduced lunch programs only go so far. the community widely supports the food backpack program for students. there is awareness and concern for hungry children in this county.

No where have I read Michelle OBama is to blame for this lunch fiasco. She is trying to impress that a child needs a balanced meal. There is way too much pizza and junk food at the high school. Kids like this stuff, but it is not what they need. She wants more healthy veggies and fruits incorporated to their diets. There need to be more food put on their plates. The cooks need to prepare more food, by the time the late lunch gets there there is not enough food. Some of those boys could eat 2 or 3 of the skimpy meals seved there. The cooks at the high school need some old fashioned cooking lessons. The food at the high school is the worst food of any of the schools in the county. There needs to be no child left hungry, thru no fault of their own, We need to put children first, not money spent all on athletics.

Why is it the school's responsibility to feed our kids?

So are you saying that if your child is in someone else's care, you don't care if they feed them? It's the heartless people like yourself, Joe, that make this a big deal to other parents.

Ok I have an issue about lunches at FES. Now my children do not complain about the amount of food they get but they do complain about the amount of time they get to eat it. I have a 5th, 6th and 12th grader. My senior doesn't complain but my two FES students do complain about this. They say by the time they get though the lunch line they only have 5 min to eat it. Ok, I pay full price lunches and that comes to around $150 each month I am paying that school system to feed my children, is it too much to ask to give them a few more minutes to eat that meal I pay good money for? Yes it is cheaper then me buying their lunch somewhere else but $150 each month is a lot of money too!!

New federal school lunch mandates, promoted by Mrs. Obama have brought many changes to the school lunch program. They do require healthier options but do not provide federal funds to support the new mandates. States and therefore, local schools have to pay. Part of these new mandates limit the caloric intake of children. Are there children who depend upon most of their caloric intake from school lunches? Yes. Does this new mandate cause hardship on those children. Of course it does. Is it the child's fault that there is no food in the home? No way. That is the situation that too many of our children face every day. It's what we have. Now, we as a community must find a way to deal with it.

I just have one question. What happened to the lottery money that was supposed to go for schools in Kentucky? I guess the Senators and Representatives found other uses for it. We, as citizens, should hold people accountable.

If my child is in someone else's care, I do expect that they be fed. But, it's still my responsibility to pay for it. I chose to have kids, therefore I assume the cost of raising them. I don't expect that the school, government or anyone else for that matter have to pay for my choices.

School lunches and breakfasts are packed full of calories. School officials DO care about the nutritional needs of students, they don't just feed them because they have to. Any student whose family can't afford lunch fees can sign up for free or reduced lunch. From what I've seen, most of the kids who end up with crackers are ones who spent their lunch money that morning at McDonald's.

well i actually attend fchs and i know that they do provide a sufficient amount of food for lunch and breakfast, also the only reason that any child would have to eat only peanu butter and crackers is if they are 12.50 dollars behind on their lunch charges. to comment on hungry from morehead if they cant afford the cost of the foods for lunch and breakfast then they are offered free or reduced lunch.

The people whining are the same people that believe the government is responsible for feeding, clothing and housing them. It's the whole entitlement mentality. They should be ashamed.
