I feel bad that you didn't get to see the Senate Hearing so hears the link. You will be more able to talk about it after you've seen it. I watched both the Senate and the House Hearings.

The Truth:
Vice President Biden and his entourage travelled to London and Paris in February 2013 where they stayed in costly five star hotels. This according to a March 22, 2013 article by ABC News that said that the State Department contracts for the Hyatt Regency London tabulated to $459,338.65 and the Hotel Intercontinental Paris Le Grand's tab was $585,000.50.
The article also said, "While the figure may be eye-popping, a State Department official said these costs are par for the course in high-level international trips as they also include accommodations for staff, security details and military personnel."

Nobody has written up the reason they went there.

Allow me to interject some objectivity; Some posters have went overboard with projections of total chaos and our government using drones on America at large. Some posters have stated our government will NEVER do that.
History shows that whenever people bury their head in the sand (so to speak) they never see the evil headed their direction.
Government has turned on it's citizens, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Japan, and even America!
Look at the plight of African Americans, they protest and thugs in uniform with accoutrement of war oppressed them, killed, and even hanged them.

The second amendment is the black mans right to defend himself against this ever happening again!
"the right to bear arms, shall not be infringed", government shall not oppress!

Most in Congress DO NOT BELIEVE in the US Constitution.

If they did, they would have impeached:

LBJ for lying about the Gulf of Tonkin.

Nixon for Watergate.

Reagan/Bush for Iran/Contra.

Bush/Cheney for WMD in Iraq.

Congress also made the decision to go to war (they authorized the funding) so in essence Congress let them off the hook. There were special investigations held : "Iran Contra Hearings", remember Lt. Col. Oliver North?

About the Gulf of Tonkin
"It was an incident in the Tonkin Gulf that enabled Johnson to justify his actions. This occurred in August 1964, when the American warships the U.S.S. Turner Joy and the U.S.S. Maddox were patrolling in interna- tional waters in the Gulf of Tonkin. Johnson went on national television to tell the Ameri- can people that the North Vietnamese had torpedoed the ships without provocation. The Tonkin Gulf Resolution on August 7, 1964 provided President Johnson the authority to vastly increase the U.S. commitment to the war.
In reality, the American ships were electronically monitoring attacks by South Vietnam, and the details of the event were less clear than Johnson made them seem. The captain of the Maddox, John Herrick, sent the following message to Washington soon after it occurred:“Review of action makes many reported contacts and torpedoes fired appear doubtful. Freak weather effects on radar and overeager sonar men may have accounted for many reports. No actual visual sightings by Maddox. Suggest complete evaluation before any further action taken”(Moise, 1996). Johnson and Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara wanted to retaliate, and while they did not completely lie to the American people, they

Thanks for the honesty Repukes, it is refreshing to know at least one more ignorant troll on this forum will admit they are what they are. I an ignorant troll also but I am proud of it. My man Obama could not be where he is without people like us. I too admire a man who can destroy an economy, give free beer, food stamps, cell phones and health care to people like us that never worked or even wanted to, and at the same time send military and financial support to terrorist organizations. He is our hero, our idol and the symbol of all the combined ignorance in this country.

Wiki does not mentioned the whole truth.

It omits certain facts from time to time.

Even Generals know what happened in Vietnam.

---------

General Anthony Zinni, USMC,(Ret.) Remarks at CDI Board of Directors Dinner, May 12, 2004 http://tinyurl.com/8ldmo

I think the first mistake that was made was misjudging the success of containment. I heard the president say, not too long ago, I believe it was with the interview with Tim Russert that ... I'm not sure ... but at some point I heard him say that "containment did not work." That's not true.

So to say containment didn't work, I think is not only wrong from the experiences we had then, but the proof is in the pudding, in what kind of military our troops faced when we went in there.

The third mistake, I think was one we repeated from Vietnam, we had to create a false rationale for going in to get public support. The books were cooked, in my mind. The intelligence was not there. I testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee one month before the war, and Senator Lugar asked me: "General Zinni, do you feel the threat from Saddam Hussein is imminent?" I said: "No, not at all. It was not an imminent threat. Not even close. Not grave, gathering, imminent, serious, severe, mildly upsetting, none of those."
