I worry about all of the teens that he was chaperoning. I bet there are some very nervous parents on their way over from Australia!

What's the story behind this?

This thread doesn't offer a great amount of detail.

Anyone got any links to more information?

What a strange set of circumstances surrounding his turning himself in.

I got the impression he didn't know anything until he was alerted by someone he was on TV.

I expected to read on and see he'd been released, but instead, he's had the book thrown at him.

Lets hope everyone has done their jobs correctly.

Lets hope the evidence is irrefutable, because guilty or not, this blokes life as he knew it is over.

I have to say, being a male, I'm not one to be nurturing like a woman, I have always found it strange when I see grown men involved with children's groups.

I'm talking about men who actually want to spend time with other peoples children. Not kids in their late teens, but kids up to say 16,

To me it just doesn't seem natural.

Men prefer to, provide, mens role is to secure their families safety etc, not playing the role of what I've always believed women are naturally suited to.

Call me sexist, but it's true, men are usually too selfish to extend themselves to others, let alone kids.

Male Scout leaders, etc, are a real concern to me, so too male religious types or any males playing similar roles. It's just not natural.

I'd be interested in any constructive discussion along these lines.

Please, no psychoanalysts. I already know I'm crazy, lol.

Parents, do not trust anyone else with your children, it's just asking for trouble, no matter how nice you think that man is, he could be a pervert, it's just not worth the risk.

Ok ..so you're a male who has a problem with being around kids and who also has a problem with males who enjoy being around kids and nurturing them and actually teaching them how to be decent human beings. I know you didn't want any psycho analysis on your comment, so I wont bother.

There are some members of my gender who have absolutely no idea what they're talking about. The same is true of the opposite gender. Some however DO know what they are talking about and and have the skills to twist situations and facts to favour there own (less than noble) cause. I am 100% sure you don't fit into the latter category.

LOL. How could I have started the threads from PA ?

Pennsylvania is more foreign to me than Australia is (where I visited for 3 months). I've never flown East in my life. Born & raised on the West coast & traveled internationally out West.

Look mate, if you have a different view, that's OK with me, but look at the facts.

Bicycle coaches,
Swim Coaches,
Local religious reps and I mean all denominations,
Uncles,
Bothers,
Bosses,
Scout Leaders, and the list goes on,
All males in positions of trust, all molesters.

I don't argue, some people, regardless of gender, have a knack with kids, but I still feel men who get into those roles, are very suspect.

Day after day we're confronted with these offenses and almost always, it's a male in a position of trust, involving young children, to mid teen kids, who's the offender.

All I'm saying is, it would be a very brave or extremely naive parent, who would continue to allow their children to be put at risk, by trusting any bloke with their children.

What interests me, is why you took my post so personally?

Why you felt the need to cast aspersions?

I mean I was only being honest, and I'm sure the majority of women would agree, most blokes are bloody useless around kids

It was just my view of things, it wasn't meant to threaten any one in any way.

Australians are being sent a strong message not to "get too familiar" with the US. Your folk must toe the line, and be on your best behavior, or the HEAVY hand of US law will come down on you.

Don't you exhibit your natural racist tendencies here either, cuz you just might get physically roughed up or worse.

"natural racist tendencies" - you are entitled to your belief, but that is the same as me saying Canadians have natural racist tendencies - it is wrong, evil, slander even.

Was racial heritage is the victim? Otherwise why bring up the word 'racist'?

In fact, why bring it up at all?

If Australia agrees to keep its perverts out of the U.S., I will lead a local movement to send the velodrome to Queensland or whatever dump you prefer.
Try to cut down on the polluting it is disgusting. The worst polluter in the world.
