It comes in a plastic bucket, and they just dump it out to a bowl! Not homemade!

I had no clue. I always had heard they made it in house.:( This saddens me. Oh well. Guess Santa Claus isn't real also? All this time I've been singing praises for this establishments chicken salad and you tell me it is store bought? Well. Learn something new everyday. I guess the good news in this is I can inquire where it can be purchased b/c @$5.99 a pound it's expensive stuff. One could only assume they have a 40%+ mark-up. So maybe I can find where I can buy a tub of it myself direct. Thanks for the heads up.

Yes it is...it's got ranch powder and some peas...carrots are optional, some chiggun.. you can figure it out yourself. If you just try to make it and not be lazy and expect someone to give it to ya online. LOL I have the recipe..but I've already said too much. Bah ha ha!!! And I got it from a Topics thread!! Whew! It's good stuff!

Dec 16, 2009 boneless chicken breast, frozen onions, mayo, powdered Hidden Valley Ranch dressing, celery, shredded carrots, dont use a lot of the dressing because they use 2 envelopes for a huge amount, so taste as you add.
AND they make Nannys cole slaw the same way.

You are right, I thought they made it also. But it comes in a big plastic container and also when it is on sale they advertise it as Pilgrims Pride Chicken Salad. After noticing the name of the chicken salad, I ask a deli worker if it was the same as I always bought and she said yes.

The Pilgrims Pride Chicken Salad is different than the Chicken Salad they sale as their own. They are both on the wall as two different salads/prices as well. Pilgrims Pride has more of a relish taste.

Where did you get the idea I said they cooked out of date chicken? I am just sayin they use large plastic container of premade chicken salad and fill their containers in the deli case from it. I still don't believe they make their own chicken salad anyway. Like I stated previously tiptons had the same chicken salad

i can not believe the lies that are on here about our local grocery store. The chicken salad is HOMEMADE, as well as the store also offers pre-made chicken salad as well. The recipe listed is not correct. But I know for certain that it is HOMEMADE, they sell so much of it, that they make 20-40lbs of fresh chicken daily to make the salad with. this is sooo crazy as to what we read on here. I am just stating the facts I hope you all pay attention and move on to something else worth talking about.

I doubt they make 20-40 lbs fresh chicken daily for the chicken salad. This is really over the top. I agree with Louie, Tiptons did have the same chicken salad.

Sorry Louie and others...tipton's could not have had the same recipe this is an old Pennington Family recipe. And yes they make that much and more. They take orders for it daily from as far as Grayson, carter County and even washington court house ohio. Sorry to disappoint the non believers. It is the best chix salad around.

I buy two lbs at a time if 9 more people come in and get 2lbs there is 20 pounds.20 to 40 a pound per day for sure!! but they use the chicken that has just gone out of date!! Its not bad chicken, its just not fresh plucked!

I worked in another local deli in a grocery store, and yes we did have to use ALL of the old chicken for salad to sell! All I can offer for advice is don't eat the deli salad![all old lunch meat, mixed and ground together]
