Get your minds out of the gutter! ;) Really though, on January 22nd vote to make Greenup Co. wet. This will help our economy tremendously. Think of all the doors this could open for our community. There are tons of opportunities for our county...all we have to do is open our minds and vote yes!

Yeah...Booze has made Ironton a real garden spot. Let's keep things as they are in Greenup County. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Alchohol will not help a thing.

You guys are so ignorant. If it ain't broke don't fix it?? How many new business are there in Greenup Co? How many nice sit down restaurants? How many truck stops?? We're right off the IP. We could be rackin in a lot of money. But we're not, because we're stuck in 1943. And it's sad. And depressing. No wonder everyone considers this the armpit of America. Not only are we the cancer center of the world...we also can't accept change. That's precious.

If it is so bad around here, move to Ironton or Huntington. Heck if you want to stay in Kentucky, all you have to do is move to Vanceburg.....it has tons of nice restaurants and great prosperity and riches......oh wait.....no they don't. All they have is dives and carry-outs. nevermind

Think you're putting the cart before the horse here, so you believe if GREENUP goes wet restaurants are going to flock and build in Greenup, I dont think so...
Alcohol sales will only help out carry outs and gas stations, no business or large chain is going to build because or if Greenup goes wet, and if they do that will be a very sad day for Greenup, very sad, you might up getting your dives and bars you want, and the type and class of people that you want, that's it.

Is it true 80% of the tax money goes to the state? Because I know its true that crime goes up, have seen it my self. So if the state takes the lions share of the tax money, then noway can the 20% left fill the need for increased law enforcement. As far as the fair and old fashioned days, it can only get worse have attended both for almost 4 decades I am yet to not encounter drunks, spilling there drinks, cussing , fighting and all that generally goes along with drinking. And have witnessed the cops turn a blind eye and walk away.I am sorry we do not live in a utopia,But we don't the ugly realities of Alcohol is A fact we as a society have to live with as well as the good that can come from Alcohol..I have drank for over 30 years, the last 20 have been responsible drinking. So I know both sides of this topic..I don't feel voting yes will send me to hell,,as I don't fill voting no will make me a hypocrite.

100% of alcohol tax money goes to the state and federal government. The county or city governments get zero from alcohol sales unless they enact a local ordinance to add their own taxes or fees. Greenup County Fiscal Court has no ordinances regulating or taxing alcohol sales, including Bellefonte and Russell where alcohol sales are currently legal.

I think all bars should be banned period! If it is illegal to drive drunk, then Bars shouldn't have parking lots! Nah, I think we need to keep Greenup counties roads as safe as we can! For all you slummers and scumbags that want to get out of 1943 you can build a bridge and get the fuck over it! Or hell just use the one to Ironton,....but stay!

How are we assuming that greenup co going wet will immediately cause all those nice "sit down" restaurants to come? Can someone name one in Ironton where alcohol sales are permitted? This isn't the kind of change the county needs ..

Of course it will bring change and opportunity but the question is .. Is it really going to being the type of change and opportunity the county really needs? Not all change is a good thing.

I guess if you must point out one thing good about alcohol sales in Greenup is that there should be less DUI's, as less people will be going to Ironton, Portsmouth and Ashland for there booze, they will be getting them at their local carry outs and Convenience stores.
But I see no Mall or n Restaurant chain being built in Greenup because of alcohol sales. And it will not bring any high paying jobs there as well either, people that believe that are just fooling themselves.
All you will end up getting in Greenup if it is voted wet is carry outs, dives and bars spotted all about Greenup county.
So the way you vote, you will remember it for as long as you live in Greenup
