Are the rumors about the incest Whittaker family true?

I also wondered the same thing when I moved to the area about 6 years ago and this is what I have learned from their friends and family...

1.The incestual characteristics are from genereations past.They are not incest now.

2.People around here are very defensive about rumors of the Whittakers and take offence to any negativity towards them.
In learning these things I decided to pay them a visit, yes some of the family are mentally challenged however for the most part they are down to earth good people all they ask is that you respect them and their property as much as you would like to be respected,my advice if curiosity takes you down their road stop by and say hi to them I guarantee it will be a enlightening experience.

I heard from people that lived the next town over that The Whittakers bark at the car and run around naked. I believe these people. What's up with this?

my dad went down that road recently for some work he was doing. he said that they did bark at him and one of the boys was standing beside the road naked. i have never been there and he is taking me next weekend after my finals are over...i cant wait!

most of the stuff you hear about the whittakers is gossip. its not like they mean to bark at people, they are just mentally challenged and cant talk right, ive seen one before and he was tryin to talk but it just sounded like he was barking

All I got to say Is drive by their house and see for yourself. They bark at you. The entire family. They smash their faces into your car windows. Didn't believe that we had people from the wrong turn really living in wv.

look these people are mentally challenged and are in need of food blankets clothing not your remarks so yes take a drive so u get barked at what harm does it cause you as for wrong turn people well these are nothing like that they dont eat other humans so think about helping out and doing the right thing thank you

Yes, it is sadly true... My father's family lived only a 1/2 mile up the mountain from them. As a child we would take food, clothing, toys, cosmetics, etc to them every year for Christmas. This was about 15+ years ago, as I am 26 now. But anyway, they would crowd the car when we pulled up, and they could not talk - but they would smile and "bark" for a lack of better words. It was the MOST awful thing I have ever seen to this day. I always wondered how the city/state would allow such poverty... I have family that lives on the mountain still, they say that most of them have died off, but that they are still living there, and still practice incest...
