Hello! I'm currently working on my family tree and can use some help. I have a lot of information on the Gambrel, Bargo, and Grubb line and some of the Brown line, but I'm having a helluva time with the Sizemores. My grandmother was Lucy Sizemore, daughter of Ned Sizemore and Amanda Smith. If you know of anyone within this family, please contact me at [email protected] I'm trying to figure out who Edward "Ned" Sizemore's parents are. Info is greatly appreciated!!

Amanda Smith born 1839 married Edward (Ned)Sizemore
Ned Sizemore born 1833.Son of Henry(Bluehole)Sizemore and Mary(Pug)Asher daughter of Dillon Ansher and Nancy Davis.Henry(Bluehole)Sizemore son of John (Rockhouse)Sizemore and Nancy Bowling. I guess we are related somewhere in this long bloodline.Anyway Escoe Smith wrote a book on this and is very helpful. He lives in Dewitt and has a store there, his number is listed.

Hi. I've seen the information written by Escoe Smith. I read a part about my greatgreatetc grandfather, John "Jack" Bargo possibly housing Jesse James at one time giving him a 50c piece for his trouble. I wonder if it actually happened..? However, a Sizemore family member contacted me last year to let me know that a lot of what Escoe had written is incorrect and without "proper sources". Henry would have been around 13 years old and Mary "Pug" would have been about 9. I know they married young back in the day, but even that's too young.
Another family researcher has Edward "Ned" Sizemore's parents as William Sizemore b 1798 TN d 1860 and Anna Asher b 1803 TN d Aug 15 1856 Breathitt County, Kentucky.
They were married on 19 Nov 1824 in Perry County, Kentucky.
William Sizemore is the son of Edward Sizemore b 1788 VA d Nov 27 1855 Perry County, and Louanna Bowling b 1780
VA d 1820 Perry Co, KY. Edward being the son of George All Sizemore 1755 VA - 7 13 1822 Perry Co and Agnes Shepherd Cornett/Agnes Cornett.
My grandmother was Ned and Amanda's daughter, Lucy. She had a relationship with my grandfather, William Newton Gambrel, that resulted in my dad being born. Lucy went on to marry Carlow Hobbs and had my Uncle Bert, Noah, Carrie, Zelphia. I never met Uncle Bert but discovered that he had married a lot, at least 5 times, and I remember his last wife, Amanda Boatwright. I was about 4 when he died and it's the first image I have of my dad crying. I never met Zelphia either, she's suppose to have a daughter, Nettie, that lives in or around Himyar. I have Zelph married to Sam Hensley, but she had "Hobbs" and "Brown" (Otis Brown, Nettie Hobbs, Martha Brown) children and I don't know who their father was. Her and Sam only had the 1 girl, Lula Mae, as far as I know. I have Carrie married to Henry Brown with 8 children and read in a book by Tom Fetterman that she was one of Henry's 8 wives. I have a photo from that book of her and some children, but I can't remember meeting her.
I did meet Uncle Noah (wife was Carrie Brown and they have 5 kids). Me and some of my sisters went to get him when my dad was in the hospital. He was the sweetest man. Him and dad talked for ages in that hospital room, then we took him back home.
I have a census record from 1910 with another child listed; John age 1. The only other sibling I can remember my dad talking about was Lindsey Gambrel, another very kind, sweet man. I met him at the hospital and at the funeral home when dad died. He was a son of William Newton Gambrel and Rosa Taylor, before she married Speed Sizemore. I don't remember him mentioning a John and neither do my older sisters. So that's a puzzler.
I don't have any photographs of my grandmother Lucy or anything and there's plenty of holes in my family tree as it is right now. I'm always on the lookout to add new people or gather photographs and would be happy to pay for copies.
If anyone has any information, or knows how I can get in touch with Nettie Hobbs or other family members, please email me at [email protected]
Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I have George on my family tree data base. I have him married several times, but only having children with two of the ladies..? He's a cousin several times removed. He's a decendant of John Gambill/Gambrel/Gamble et al an Nellie LNU. No one seems to know Nellie's last name. If you have an email address, I'd be happy to send you a file on what I have of the family thus far. It's not all correct, as I'm finding out just about daily, and there are a lot of holes to fill, but I work on it when I can and would be glad to share information, have corrections or additions.

I sent you the file I have, starting with John and Nellie. It's a pretty big word doc file. I didn't know if you have ftm, if you do, and prefer a ged file, just let me know.
If you have any info that I could add to the tree, your family, cousins, etc, that would be welcome and appreciated.

Hello, I was wondering, if you still get on here, could you please send me back a copy of what I sent to you? My hard drive crashed and I lost EVERYTHING I had on my FTM and my files, emails, etc. I would really appreciate it if you could. Please and thank you!

Hi Lori,

Zelphia was my ggrandmother. Her daughter Martha was my grandmother and a wonderful woman. I was just in Stinking Creek yesterday looking for graves. My grandmother passed away 10 years ago. The only living child of Zelphia, to my knowledge, is my great aunt Nettie. I would really like to see what info you have on this family line. I have just begun to get into this side of the family. Please feel free to contact me at [email protected]

Sincerely,
Kimberly
