There's not really anything to do here in Palm Coast for young or old, unless you like to golf, boating or fishing. A car is a must, the closest theatre is about 25 minutes away either in St. Augustine or Ormond Beach. The only shopping available here in Palm Coast is Bealls, Target, Walmart and we just got a Kohls. The closest indoor shopping mall is Daytona Beach, 30 minutes away. There are no skating rinks, clubs for under 21 to dance, no theme parks (1 1/2 hours away in Orlando).

I moved here when I was 45 and have been here for 5 years. I am moving out of Palm Coast at the end of this year because there's no job opportunities, nothing to do here locally, you have to drive 30 minutes to an hour to find anything to do. The unemployment rate here in Flagler county is 15.4% which is the highest in Florida. I would NOT recommend you move a teenager down here but if you do, be sure she has a car, she's going to need it. Basically, this area was a retirement community and as far as entertainment is concerned, it still is.

Hi,

My wife and I publish The Atlantic Quarterly & Local Book here in Palm Coast.

I could not believe the comments made by others.

Why would Fortune Magazine this month name Palm Coast as one of 5 Best Places to Retire AND Invest? Because it is great and will be even greater.

Have 2 children who LOVE it here. Much to do here in Flagler County.

What we do not have can be found 25 mi north (St Augustine) or south (Ormond Beach)

They who wrote are losing - paid too much. Buy a home today at 95k and value 3 years 145k -(I do not sell real estate)

Paradise - and that's the truth.

Get a life its sucks there I lived there for 3 yrs and left a bunch of welfare crack addicts and meth users and gangs my friends still there cant wait til they can get out of there unless your pretty well to do its not for the average family has nothing to do with the value of your home most homes are owned by spectulators who live up north and rent them out to anyone who'll pay its mostly a lowlife area most ppl there could careless about employment.the government is supporting them...go anywhere besides florida if your from up north your gonna hate it

There is really quite a lot to do, if you look around...hiking/biking trails, canoeing on the intercoastal, and restaurants, movie theaters, etc. nearby in Daytona and St. Augustine . Flagler Beach is a great place to surf, and there are public pools, tennis courts, and parks.

I m coming to the area in a few months to stay with a friend and it looks interesting to me i love the beach and the park options look promising I am not a kid though and as far as drugs and gangs well shoot they are everywhere in the US there is not one state around that does not have a drug problem in most all their cities they may not be big problems but there are problems The way to deal with that is Parenting plain and simple.

When i looked at the crime for the area it is mostly theft and burglery only one or two assults
I come from a big city though so that stuff there is a cake walk

I'm 30 and love palm coast! The gyms are near by and the atmosphere is great. It's a good place to raise kids. I font a bout 18 year olds but my 4 year old loves it! The beach is great and great dinning around and if you need to shop the prime outlet is not that far. I life an athletic life and enjoy jogging by beach. 15.7 employment rate but other wise it a great place.

If you Palm Coast hater s hate it so much then go back to where you came from! You are the ones causing the problems withyour horrible attitude! For on, yes we have residents on welfare, ssi and food stamps, but these days with the economy the way it is - What city doesn't! I have two terrific kids who absolutely love PC and the schools are amazing.
Please get out so that the good people can stay and enjoy the beautiful city!

I read with interest the comments left by various people. It seems the lowlifes leave comments to keep decent folks from moving in and the decent people encourage people in hopes to add some positive attitudes to the mix. I read the statistics of Palm Coast as well as several other areas of Florida and will plan a trip there myself as I am searching for a place to relocate from up north. My concerns are affordable housing, shopping convenience, and a comfortable safe place to plant roots. The negative comments from a chosen few obviously with depressing lives do not deter me and the positive comments are about things that can easily be verified. I did my homework and will do a "walk-thru" in the near future and I am looking forward to it as Palm Coast does sound very attractive on many levels for my wants and needs.

Lowlifes are everywhere! If you stay away from them you don't even notice them. All of the people with the negative outlook on palm coast are probably the problem. The city has been growing and will continue to grow and why not ... The real-estate is new and you can't go wrong with the pricing. The whole Florida is flooded with bad medicine practice and prescription medication and this is one of the city's that's against pain clinics. SSI and government help is everywhere so turn around and say that's only in Palm Coast is just nonsense!! If you're a productive individual you will love the life style palm coast has to offer. Negativity is everywhere so just brush it under a rug!!

are you for real? you tell some ladie that wants to move here to work lollipops strip club to make money. would you tell ur kid that? ur a lowlife and real-estate prices are low because of all the foreclosures. palm coast is not growing any more. wake up and look around and look at the country. palm coast, bunnell, flagler beach and the county are run by crooks and people that are out for themselfs. palm coast city works will not tell you the truth-lookwhat -GIN company -did- were did $5,000,000 go for the court house and who approved it. still dont know that one. and now a new city hall? for what< i just think its a joke and people have the right to talk if ur a citizen. so u-haul is on sr100 if you dont like what people say. lol

BUILT A GREAT HOME AND SOLD IT 5 YEARS LATER IN 2005. LUCKY TO HAVE SOLD IT AND MADE 50,000. THAT WAS THE AND THIS IS NOW,LEFT JUST IN TIME OR I WOULD NOT HAVE SOLD THAT HOUSE TODAY AND IT WAS A VERY LARGE HOUSE WITH THE BEST OVERYTHING BUILT BY HOWELL HOMES. WE LEFT BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING TO DO DOWN THERE FOR KIDS. AS FAR AS THE BEACH GO THERE AND YOU WILL SEE WHY THE BEACH IS EMPTY. LEFT TO GO BACK NORTH. NOT BECAUSE OF JOBS AS WE BOTH ARE RETIRED. WE NOW PAY TAXES OF 8,500 A YEAR IN PALM COAST WE PAID 3,000. PAYING MORE NOW IS WORTH IT IN EVERY WAY. 20 MIN. TO REAL BEACHES, 5 MIN. AWAY FROM ANY STORE YOU CAN THINK OF. PALM COAST IS A NICE PLACE TO VISIT BUT YOU WOULD NOT WANT TO LIVE THERE. IF YOU HAVE KIDS STAY AWAY, IF YOU ARE A STICK IN THE MUD THEN STAY, NEVER LEAVE YOUR HOUSE AND COMPLAIN ABOUT THE TRAFFIC AND HOW BAD PALM COAST IS GETTING.

kids in the neihborhood accuse my kid of a very bad crime that he did not commit the kid who did commit the crime went around telling adults and other kid's he did the crime and loved watching my kid get arested for this very sick act. the cops and court investigated this for month's and found that this kid and his cousin's lied they got nothing my kid got probation for 8 month's. I showed proof where my kid was at the time that this crime happened but the court would not talk to our witnesses. my child was only 12 at the time this happened. I got my kid out of palm coast because those people are very sick and screwed up royally.
