The BBB Scam

To everyone who believes in the Better Business Bureau (BBB)
Please understand a few facts.
1. The BBB makes its money by collecting annual membership fees from the very business' they are supposed to be rating.
2. The BBB tracks ALL complaints on ALL business' regardless of membership.
3. "Accredited Member" means a local company paid a fee. Thats it!!
3. The only reason business' pay "the ransom" is because the general public believes the information provided by the BBB is accurate and somehow meaningful. ITS NOT!!(and every member knows this too)
Think about this - would you trust Consumer Reports if they took advertising from GM, Ford Maytag etc, etc?
Would you pay for the information the BBB provides?
The most likely answer to both is "NO"
If the BBB truly had valuable information, they would charge consumers(you) they would do something like CARFAX, BUT the BBB knows that no one would pay for their lousy information, so they tell the local business' the following ...
"... you better pay us, or people are going to think you're not a good business"
Nothing like being strong armed into paying the BBB ransom.
Its true people. Please ask any local business owner you know, see if they agree.
Please keep an open mind, and consider the points I'm making.
Consider sticking with referrals from friends and stop using the BBB.
P.S. Please post any questions or comments - as I am eager to hear from consumers and business' alike.

so did you get a bad rating or something?

Not at all. A+ rating.
I am trying to expose the truth. The BBB doesn't provide any real information.
Re read what I wrote, tell me what you think I'm wrong about, tell me what doesn't make sense.

The accredidation fee paid by accredited businesses is so that the services to consumers are free (ie: complaints mailed to consumer and handled for free). Would you want to pay, as a consumer, to resolve something that should've been right in the first place?

Have an issue with a concrete company who put in a new driveway. Not happy at all about the job with the sealer. Filed a complaint with the BBB, and this concrete company is not accredited. I don't think I will get results, but I felt better having this company with an ink spot on their report card.

Well, when the dust settled, the BBB sided with the contractor. I really didn't expect justice, but every chance I get, I will drive business away from this particular contractor.

At the risk of sounding condescending, I don't think you get the point.
The BBB does NOT investigate, Does NOT mediate, does not make a "ruling" of any kind.
Heres what it does:
It takes hundreds of dollars from every "accredited" member annually.
When a complaint is filed the BBB publishes that complaint.
End of story.
What value do you get from this?
Dont believe me? Thats fine - watch this video and see what you think after.

Exposing - Your are absolutely correct. We had been a member of the BBB for years with an A rating. Tight after we stopped paying our rating dropped to an F. Of course our sleezy competitors are pointing this out to our prospects. Damage is being done. We want to see heads roll. Where's the class-action law suit. We want to join in!

You are NOT "accredited" until you pay.
The word "Accredited" is just the word the BBB uses instead of "Member"
There is NO accrediting process. Just pay them a fee and your "accredited"
In addition - the bigger the company -the more they pay for "Accredition" (membership) So you can imagine how the BBB would want to keep the big dogs happy.
It's a total racket with mob like tactics to extort fees from local business'.
Pay up!! Or the BBB will punish you.
