To the 'Educate Springboro' group - you are pathetic people and I feel sorry for you and your families. You will be judged by your narrow mindedness! You already are being judged as people that want to bring down our incredible schools and teachers. You are hurting the families and children of Springboro that CARE about our community. IF you don't like our schools, teachers, etc. than leave! You don't even have your children in the school system as it is so you have no room to destroy what you don't know about!

You have to remember these people don't have kids in our schools, which is why they don't feel they need to pay one property tax cent for OUR children when THEIR children aren't affected. They moved here to be in a community they found attractive. Low crime, lack of diversity, mostly married couples, high median incomes. These people don't believe schools are tied to the types of people that are attracted to a community. You have a homeschooler, Bishop catholic parents, an empty nester and then the parents of the senior twins that will no longer benefit when their own children graduate in a month. No one with kids in the Springboro schools is part of this group. Name me one. I bet you can't. Oh, I forgot, they are too afraid to go public out of fear. Give me a break. There aren't any sane people affiliated with these radicals. They are like the unpopular misfits that sat at the weird kid's table in school. We all remember them.

You're missing the point. People are tired of being held HOSTAGE by the school board. A few years ago, busing was terminated for the high school and jr. high, and miracles of miracles, as soon as that levy passed busing was resumed. I believe it was the next day it was announced the money had been "found". What a great day in Springboro! It's that kind of crap that's made the citizen's wary of the school board. We are just asking for some accountability.

History lesson...

Actually, it was announced that this money was found and that busing would be restored to all but the high school in January about two weeks before the Nov School Board vote. This appears to have been an effort by the school board at the time to keep the incumbents in office. The two opponents, Kohls and Anderson, both were in favor of restoring busing. There was no levy vote at the time and Kohls and Anderson won. The Board president at the time Ira Thompsen was not re-elected.

Thank you for the clarification, but that was not the first time they tried this tactic. When my son was a tenth or eleventh grader (2006/2007), they pulled the same thing. Whether it's trying to keep their jobs or passing levies, it's always the same thing!

Agreed. The Board always seems to cave in to the union's demands, requests, or their whims. That's why the teacher's union in Springboro has become such a force. It's never "for the kids" as the levy campaigns claim. It's for the union plain and simple. Kohls and Anderson were voted in with the hopes that they would start to regain some of the power the board lost. Kohls is doing her part but Anderson is not.

Anyhow, we're off topic for this board.

With two young adults in the schools, I can say with confidence that Springboro Schools are not "incredible". They are very good, but not "Great" They provide an above average education to our students and community, but we all must keep in mind that they are presented with above average students to begin with, per this community's existing demographic.
Amazingly, I recently read that we've gone from a $6.x million dollar forecasted Deficit under the prior administration, to a $17.x million dollar SURPLUS by 2017.... Now how did that happen???? I'd like to thank Educate Springboro for staying the course on this and sticking to their message by bringing up uncomfortable questions!!!!

Listen Up! You are being judged by your Good Neighbor for your lack of vision for the future of our children and the families of our community. Many of these families that you "judge" as hurting the schools are the very families who have worked to build these schools; and now are facing bad economic times(that national forecasts are predicting have NO end in sight); And facing judgment by some CARING residents (who have moved here only five or six years ago)and are not "ruling" that we should just lose our family's lifetime investment in our homes; and just leave, because those of your kind "covet" your neighbors homes and think we should just sacrifice ourselves for those of the union entitlement mindset. Such tunnel vision of your own self interest and your own kind that are huddled down here in the Boro!

Just recently the DDN printed an article with facts that our state of Ohio is LOSING families with school age children at an alarming rate, because of the loss of jobs. Just since 2000, our city of Springboro has declined from 48.2% of families with children to 46.1% in 2010 (according to the printed DDN article).

Just this week in the TV news we're hearing that 60% of the "baby boomer" generation (empty nesters) are now providing, not only for their own financial needs, but financial assistance to grown sons and daughters (because of the weakened economy and high unemployment); And that more college graduates this year will be returning to their parents homes (empty nesters) instead of beginning their professional careers; and many of these college grads will be returning to the empty nest with huge unpaid student loan bills.

Indeed, clueless, you know yourself well; But you have proven yourself to CARE nothing about others in the community that you do not even know.

Please save your "pity party." Your neighbors who do not proudly wear your union entitlement label are NOT victims. Since you are "clueless" perhaps you don't know that "we the people" have been the VICTOR five times over our greedy Boro neighbors for increased taxes.

Shame On You, Clueless! Get the facts! then, go about our community giving your neighbors a big "thank you" for financing an excellent school district for your children.

Once again, board member Kohls had to stand alone on behalf of our children's best interest at the board meeting approving the SEA contract. Only Kohls asked questions regarding new textbooks for our classrooms and restoring bus transportation to high school students.

The DDN reports that teachers will be paid for continuing their education toward higher degrees; but recent national news reports that admnistrative costs to taxpayers for teachers earning master degrees (which qualifies teachers to demand MORE pay) is the least "bang for the buck" in our children's classrooms.

With the recent report in the DDN that Springboro already pays the highest percentage of our school budget per pupil for administrative costs than many area schools; this is NOT a good time for the incumbent BOE members to favor the union agenda over needed children first budgeting.

Anderson has always been in it for himself. However, Kohls is beginning to forget about those that had supported her in the past.

Kohls will try to sell ice to eskimos then take the money and her 5 kids to Mexico~laughing all the way to bankruptcy as the rest of us pay our bills and retain our good credit. Nice role model. And since she doesn't think taxpayers should cover education does that mean she and Tom are paying for their oldest daughter to go to college or is there a financial aid package taxpayers are picking up for this poor bankrupt family still living in their overvalued ATM of a house they chose to refi??? Just trying to see why she thinks she's a 'fiscal watchdog'. Like the fox guarding the hen house.

T.O.M. did she get financial aid? Huge amount of hypocrisy, don't cha think? Of are you even allowed to have your own thoughts? JK. I betcha wish you could get those back outta that purse now, huh, since you can't regrow a pair? LMAO. Good times! Sip a sangria on the beach, charge it and write it off as unpayable debt. It's all good in the hood my man. Selling cars can't support such a large family. Not your fault. Not all men can support their families. It happens.

There are five in the B.O.E. clan. You say Anderson DDN says Kohls. That's two if I count with Springboro education math. Are you getting five from your kitchen table school math? Where's the dirt on the remaining three that "has or had major personal financial problems"? I'm not a pinhead but I have been told there's something about you that is reminiscent of a needle. LMAO, again! This is great. On that note I'm catching up on ESPN and hitting the sack. Sweet dreams harry tom!

Who cares about slinging mud at the BOE Five? Just keep on saying NO to emergency band-aids anytime an emergency band-aid is requested by Springboro's sick educated union workers.
