Who cares where a coach goes.. No its not entirely fair to Fitz kids, but when it comes to football& money everyone starts thinking selfish anyways..

Isn't it funny how Coffee County school system publicly states how they are in bad financial condition and are laying off staff and cutting salaries but they have the money to hire a new football coach for 134,000.00 a year? Where is the educational support for our kids??? Oh I forgot...it's not about education but about football.

He's gone. Bad choice, no matter the money. Different atmosphere over there. I just hope he does not come crawling back like last time.

Let's see...Is that coach's wife or coaches's wives? A raise like that would be hard to turn down. Is that for the head coach or all the coaches who are leaving? Will you tell us?

Well Coffee county, you got him now!! Thank God.. He is very money hungry, but you cant blame him or taking what is thrown at him! If they spent half as much money on education and other sports in Fitz. we would be all smiling. But that is not the case. Good luck to him and Coffee county.. PS.. Get your wallets out!!!!!

We should all be much more interested in the good academic news on the front page of the paper today - than who coaches the football team.

Well Well... the root of all things, be them good or bad is always money!! It was money that took him, more money that brought him back and more that took him again... Well you cant blame them, we threw it all at him and created the situation. The problem is not the coaches and staff. The problem is that many small towns, put more value on football than a education. Good luck guys in coffee and maybe this town will wake up and see that football is just a game! I love sports but there our extras not the whole picture!!! Lets get back to real picture of educating students.

Everyone is offering their opinion so here is mine. I for one love Coach Pruitt and his wife BUT>>>>>>We need to stop worrying about Coach Pruitt and where he is going and how much money he made and how much money he is going to make!! We have a group of young men who have lost a leader that they have an attachment to and loved dearly. What needs to be the focus is supporting these young men as the prospects for a new coach arises. The change may be good. Lord knows it will give everyone less to talk about since we will no longer have Coach Pruitt to disect!! These young men love to play ball. They don't get paid. They volunteer to get out there and work HARD!! Sometime it pays off in scholarships and such but they are guaranteed nothing. I am really sick of the focus being on the coaches instead of the young men who play the game. Of course they need a coach but what is a coach without a team? NOTHING........

It seems everyone is focusing on Pruitt and others, they are forgetting other heroes in the school system. It goes without saying we have a great group of coaches who do a lot for the kids. They work to make sure kids get what they need on field as well as in the classroom. However, just as important, we have teachers and administrators who do their very best for every kid. These people work 60+ hours a week teaching, planning, and studying to instill knowledge into young minds. These people get no overtime and take for granted how much they help the kids.

Yep, teachers teach all year long, except for summer and all the bank holidays. Sure is tough.
I wish we had a special program for people like you. I can tell you are one of those know it all's that think you could actually do a teachers job. Maybe you should get a job as a sub for a little while and see how well you do in a classroom. I would love to be a fly on the wall.

I guess its pretty much a done deal since B Garrett is telling the other students at school his daddy is going to Coffee Too. Too is the key word i guess. Looks like we will be hiring a new principal too. If they do leave they need to take their spouses too since our new coaches will need places for their spouses to teach. We have heard that some of the existing spouses want to stay but i say if they dont resign we should make sure they are let go. We dont want anyone that doesnt want to be here. I personally want them to stay and i give them my best wishes whichever way they go.
We have several people who need those jobs so yes they need to go with them. We need to take care of our own before we just bring in other coaches and their wives.

Look, its real simple, and I can tell you are special, so I'm going to type slow: if I take a sub position, really any job, I lose my check. So, whatever. Hope you enjoy Flag Day, or President Taft's birthday, or whatever cheeseball day off you get next.

Personally I believe none of you know what your talking about. Coaching is a job with a little more to it. If you arent familiar with the duties, you will judge by what you see. In a coach's career their goal is to win CHAMPIONSHIPS if they cant succeed with what they have its time to move on. Pruitt has given Fitzgerald 11 good years with no championships. There are some good talented boys there but they just cant get there. So its time for something else. Sorry the boys have to go thru this but its pary of life. Its the real world not just a small town football coach hero braking hearts!! Good luck to whomever the next coach is amd good luck to coach pruitt!!

Question is...Why would Pruitt stay in Fitz?

Dead community, dead economy, dying restaraunts, etc. Wouldn't you want him to better himself and move over to Douglas.

At least the town there is growing, has jobs, places to eat, shop, etc.

I think he know what decision to make. Sometimes you just gotta backup 10 yard and punt and see what happens then!

Pruitt and the Trojans. hmm. Kinda sounds good! Remeber, Douglas ALMOST beat Fitz even without him, imagine if Pruitt got hold of the Trojan guys!

Maybe they would not CHOKE like Fitz when the got to ATL!

bothways you don't need Jesus you have Pruitt. Pruitt done his job.But behind the curtain he was the puppet master that got the school system to build a million dollar field house when the school couldn't afford books for students to bring home and study. That in itself might have kept the school from academic probation which means no state money, had city officials and Cam Jordan trying to put million dollar astroturf down at Jaycee saying it was economic development, saying if tourist seen the stadium they would want to come and live in Fitz.smh! They gave him a truck, house, and salary large enough they had to give the superintendent a raise. all that for a two lane road thru a one horse town and he already left once before and that didn't workout to well for him. And they fired the coach that done just as well as he did the year before. And why don't the kids get credit for the crowds that gathers every game night they are the ones with talent he is just very good at finding it and capitalizing on that talent. Is Pruitt a good person? I would say yes ! does he have every students best interest in mind ? no! There is no doubt he done his job now he's leaving just remember when you go to see your son at McDonald's working he was one hellva football player.Cause when it comes down to it Fitz. invested on Pruitt and his game not on the future of our kids. I have nothin
g personally against Coach I blame the people who actually had the power to say no. that being said COACH DON'T LET THE DOOR HITCHA WHERE THE GOOD LORD SPLIT CHA. Im sure if you cant win games in that division you still have the Pruitt praisers waiting with open arms
