Has anyone seen the price of hay lately? Its crazy that people are actually paying that kind of money for it. The bad part about is you can ride all over Ben hill and Irwin counties and there are hundreds of round bales still sitting and rotting. I don't understand and its very annoying that people wanna sell hay at 80 buck a roll. Its sad to say people are so money hungry that they would let hay sit and be wasted if they cant get big bucks for it. Look at the greater good of things most people that has horses can't afford the hay as it goes for so much. Theses animals are being mistreated because of greed. Very sad!!!!!!!!!! Most horses around here are family pets to children.

Is has nothing to do with not being able to afford it. Just a shame that people are doing this. Sorry you don't agree. Go look around and you will see how much is wasted.

Have you done research to see how much fertilizer and the cost of fuel to irrigate the hay costs? Not only the fact that it is expensive to fuel the tractors that cut the hay and bale the hay. It might be wasted, but you wouldn't sell you car for a thousand dollars if you owed five thousand for it would you? Go to your local fertilizer company and ask how much it would cost to fertilize a field of hay. Then go and price fuel and then come complain. Sorry you feel that way.

I am aware of the cost but still doesn't justify all the hay being wasted.

I agree the price of hay is outrageous.... its sad that everything is going up and theres no reason for it! Im starting to grow my own hay next year. I was lucky to find a place that sells it for $55 a roll and thats to deliver also. I was informed that they too have to go up on price. I dont blame anyone that has to up their prices, but it is sad that gas and everything else that cost to survive is getting so expensive but wages are staying the same or declining!

It is sad that prices on everything have gone up. A lot of the hay still in fields is peanut hay that was not used. I don't think horses can eat that kind.

its not healthy bc of all the dirt that is impossible to shake out. it will colic a horse quickly and could bring death! but bc everything cost so much pl do feed it. i say if u cnt afford to take care of it then dnt have it
