They have to cut teachers so they can afford coaches. I thought everyone knew that already!

At fitz we need someone other than the bad teachers at the boe. Director of curriculum elementary Ed teacher, director of special programs special Ed degree, superintendent elemtary Ed degree, director of ctae high school (lives to play games in computer and iPad during work day), director who deals with special programs (can't remember her exact title) elementary Ed degree---I mean the curriculum director well she can't teach beyond 5th grade and she directs curriculum for the high school ( no wonder there are problems. We only hire people if they have ezperience at an elemtary school while that is not a problem if they only work with curriculum k-5 but don't we need someone who teaches somewhere in the middle or high for curriculum at least half a day. They do not even understand any chemistry or physics or even middle school curriculum. She admits it. So why keep her at all day and pay her almost 100,000 a year when she only understands small children we can pay her 50k and someone with middle high 50k

Sounds like they're not bad teachers. I've only met a few bad teachers in my life. Most are doing a job that most couldn't do. The upper levels seem unqualified for the position that they're in, but that's south Georgia for you. That still doesn't mean they're bad. I was shocked to find out that cursive writing had been dropped as part of the curriculum. It now has been picked back up, but there's alot of middle and high school kids can't even write in cursive. I'm still in disbelief that some elementary and middle school children are allowed to use a calculater and are lost without it.
well special Ed director husband was upset at one time. It wast told after 3 years in a classroom she got her job and at boe he felt sure she and supt were cozy he makes mInimum wage so there you go of course this was maybe 20 years ago

I am sure that a lot of thought and consideration will go into any changes that are made at any school. WE have a great superintendent and great board members who have some tough decisions to make regarding the education of our children. This is not an easy task with money being cut to the bare bones in the education system. Attend a board meeting and observe some of the things they deal with. So many expenses are covered and have to be balanced. Just think of the buses and the expense incurred with them. Many schools across the country can not even afford door to door pick up as we have here. It is done to help us. We could be carpooling every day just so our kids could attend school. So many other things have to be considered.
Look at salaries of board and principals. Also, look At how many hours they work only 7 an hour lunch and they can leave everyday. Teacher does that she/he is fired. They do that and it is okay. There is no policy saying they cannot eat at a school Luke teachers but they won't. My child got in trouble for bringing a lunch that was in a McDonald's bag. The day before I was eating and they came in a local place for lunch. They can my child can't and his teacher said she can't do it either. What is fair for the goose. Make them eat at work like my son and his teacher or take an hour of their wages a day. No work 8 hours dock them that should save enough we can lower class size

As a community we can band together and stop some problems. It is simple we just keep an eye on the board office we write down the hours people work. We write down when they leave and call all schools looking to see if they are there. It is head to say but no one Person can do this. Together we can do a lot. If they know we are watching won't they make sure they work 8 hours and won't they be careful of being late. I will do my part when I am off from work. I will be glad to give what I find to a board member. If they are doing what they should no problem if not we will know that too. Guessing without knowing has no value. However knowing for sure we can do something. Also with evidence we can make changes and get the right people fired.

I have four children in the schools and they all have amazing teachers. Want to make a difference? Quit fussing on Topix and go volunteer. Read to a child. Buy some school supplies and donate them. Help a teacher.

This is south Georgia it is run by the good ole boy system. Unless they kill somebody there is nothing you, I, or anybody can do. All you can do is be involved in your childs education and help these teachers that are doing their job.
I called the state and was assured they will deal with it even if local bd won't. In fact if it is unethical we can call professional standrds in atlanta

I do not believe this. I have had a few tell me this, but it is only a rumor. I do not think this would happen.
