I am sure that a lot of thought and consideration will go into any changes that are made at any school. WE have a great superintendent and great board members who have some tough decisions to make regarding the education of our children. This is not an easy task with money being cut to the bare bones in the education system. Attend a board meeting and observe some of the things they deal with. So many expenses are covered and have to be balanced. Just think of the buses and the expense incurred with them. Many schools across the country can not even afford door to door pick up as we have here. It is done to help us. We could be carpooling every day just so our kids could attend school. So many other things have to be considered.

Canefan,You are right. I know the teacher you are talking about and have known her for a long time. She is a good teacher and I am sorry that this happened to her. I am not a board member or a teacher. I did not say they are perfect....it must be hard to make these decisions and I think they do the best they can with the budget cuts continuing. I hope the teacher can fight this and keep her job.

The budget decisions are difficult, I agree. But do not say there is no money, then gice raises to an already bloated boe office staff. Nepotism is everywhere inn the system. Someone needs to investigat. If its not illegal, it is unethical

I will try to attend the hearing. I did not know there was one and that it would be open. These things are not usually open to the public. Thanks.

Why is it always teachers being cut? I have not heard of any cuts at the BOE. We need more teachers. My child was in a class of 29 this year. That is AWFUL!!!!

Ben Hill County schools have changed over the years. Things are not like how they was when i was in the system. I don't agree with lots of things, but I don't make them decisions. I just hope and pray taht the ones that are making them choices are doing it for the right reasons. I hope they have our community childrens best interest at heart, and not there pockets like people say.

Worried-we all SHOULD be worried! Let a great teacher go,keep a coach who is sexting or texting a student, try to persuade a team of players to lie about a life and death situation.......We ALL need to be worried!!!!!

My child has 31 kids in his class. He is in 4th grade and is in one of the two classes that will not change classrooms. When I ask questions I get told it allhas to do with budget cuts
I was outraged. My son is a good student but with so many children to one teacher then they will not get the help they need if they start havin trouble with their work.
