I'll never understand why people concern themselves with what others do with their money, food stamps, etc. Are you well-off enough not to be on food stamps? Great! Enjoy your life. Even if it is true, it doesn't concern you. And before you get off on a "blah blah, my taxes" rant, that tax money isn't yours. It never was.

Well others should work and pay them too. Have some dignity and be self supporting. Furthermore, I asked a question, not to hear all your crap. I'm not big on rants, I just wanted to know if it's true

I had rather see it spent at subway or KFC than on koolaid juices, chips, candy, etc. At least there is some nutritional value to Subway.

Should be commodities handed out. Meats, veggies, fruits, pasta, etc. No chance to buy soda, junk, candy.

I completely agree but there is one problem. Most of the people who receive these entitlements are too lazy or have never learned how to cook and prepare commodities. Remember, most are second and third generation receivers of our tax money via entitlements.

I agree. Maybe that would prevent a fourth generation.

Holt Bakery is taking foodstamps too. Checked out behind someone purchasing almost $100 worth of cakes and treats. Crazy

My wife was in wal mart the other day and there was a family with a 7 or 8 month old child....they had a large amount of junk food and 12 packs of soda and a few cans of formula when they found out they had more then they could pay for they decided to put back most of the formula to get the other trash i think the government needs to take a good hard look at what this money is being spent on....

My family has fell on hard times and we have had to apply for foodstamps. I havent worked in 6 years due to being a stay at home mom. I dont like having to use government benefits but I look at it as I paid taxes all those years and for the past 6 my husband and my parents have paid taxes so I feel that they have more than paid for my share I will need to provide for my family. I will not buy just junk food but i will make sure my children have snacks like the other kids their age. I will not abuse them and if I have to be drug tested to receive them that is most deffinatly fine by me.

I think its crazy myself!! Go to the store, buy some "real food" and cook it!!! Its that simple!! I will be honest here and tell the truth, YES I have received food stamps before. I didnt get very many because I worked and I have a husband that works...but you better believe I bought my children the things they needed. I went to the store with a list and purchased meats, vegetables, fruits, and whatever else they needed. If i had anything left is when I bought the snacks. Use the stamps for what they were designed for and stop being so lazzzy!!!

This is what help is there for, a hand up. Not an entire life hand out. Of course, until the system quits handing it out, why should people stop taking it?
