I think that this just says more about the things that you are not doing. This is only the reported crime the things that you cetch (few and far between.) How about traffic? Child abuse? Traffic is awful. No one ever goes 35 on the side streets. And do you report what the state police are finding in town? Please....north st....drug den west fitchburg slums...maybe get out and take a look instead of sitting in your cruisers at dipping dounuts or d&d. Of course that means you have to be out moving. Oh and the traffic duty...you all can not direct traffic to save your souls your better standing there chatting with the other useless half of this town DPW More time stand there yacking than fixing these d*mn pot holes that is killing my front end. We should send the city the bills for the front end damage from these roads. Oh I can keep going...and going.... please you all are worth less lazy inept fools.

Unfortunately in 2009, the FPD had a tough time responding to crimes so people didnt bother calling.
The effort that the FPD has been giving this month has improved greatly. If they continue with this system of protection then the city will rebuild itself.

"The commitment was to keep police officers on patrol, and out of the police station over the next year, and that's something we've been accomplished," DeMoura said.

And yet they laid off all the police dispatchers.....and put police officers in the dispatch room.

The dirty Burg has gotten its priorities all messed up. No wonder no one is buying or building in the Burg.

First of all "Zimmer" get a grip and I don't mean your sphincter muscle around your head.

Crime is down because less police equals less arrests and fewer reported crime. Quite simply, if you cut man power in half... you will have half the work and half the results. Statistically it looks great on paper.
Ask any Chief of Police in Ma. Meanwhile more criminals are getting away.

You hit the nail on the head. That is a very true comment and very correct in your astute observation of this matter.
The chief and his numbers are totaly wrong and misleading.
GOA is their favorite saying on the police scanner, stands for GONE ON ARRIVAL. That's because when there's a major crime in progress they slow down..........so when they arrive on the scene the criminals are GOA!

You clearly don't have a clue. The dispatchers were laid off, how many years ago??? Old news. And you can thank the then city council clowns for that snafu. Many of whom are still actively whining on the council. Secondly, no one is building or buying in Fitchburg, another clueless statement. Two new developments in West Fitchburg, nice homes, all completed homes are occupied. It will be another summer of hearing the heavy equipment working to build more new homes. People ARE building and buying in Fitchburg.

And Shiatstorm, although I agree that Zimmer needs to get a grip, and needs to leave it's cave more often, but what kind of logic is it that makes anyone think that less police officers equates to less residents reporting crime? The stats are on REPORTED crime, not arrests made as a result of the reported crime. If you truly believe the stats are down because of less police, only the residents are to blame for their apathy and failure to report crimes. If I see a crime in progress, my thought process would NOT include, oh but there are less cops, so I'm not going to bother reporting this crime.

And Zimmer, who's the inept fool who continues to drive into potholes? Maybe YOU should slow down and pay attention to where you are going.

You can not avoid the pot holes. And I do drive slow. I do know that I agree with all of you...other than my cave but I do think you all need to re-read my post. People are not reporting crimes because the cops do nothing when you do call.... So maybe you all need to re read Reading comprehension 101. Screams lack of comprehension...of the basics. It is people like all of you that sees nothing hears nothing and does nothing in the community. Sitting at your computer post is NOT community building. Time to wake up.
